Thank you, very valuable material and really eye opening. I especially found useful, that preparation depends if u are on the upswing or downswing. Also I found very useful, that we should make notes on what is positive, since players too often are not happy and obsessed with their leaks, and forget to point to themselves, that they are doing a lot of things ok. When on a downswing, it's important to stay positive. For me, the biggest skepticism/fear is to run below EV for few months, and thus to break even or lose. Sometimes it seems that below EV stuff will never end, and you will be left unhappy, angry, frustrated, sarcastic, etc. I think having enough sleep and doing enough physical activities is very important to remain optimistic.

Glad you enjoyed the video! I think you might consider including some sort of "cure" for your mental game problem in your pre-session routine. You can say to yourself something like - "This is poker and I know that during this session I can run below the EV. However, even if it will happen, I will stay calm, self-confident and focused. Running below or over EV is beyond my control so, I will just stay focused on the things I can control." etc. You can adjust those sentences so that they will prepare you to deal with your mental-game issues if they will occur. Gl!

Started inhaing aggressiveness and almost had a heart attack. Your video should come with a warning. Just kidding, excellent video. I noticed my pre-routine was pretty short compared to yours. Learned a lot.

Hi, nice video. I especially like how you treat the topic formally with facts and science. I play a lot of live cash and I find the shower and walk before a session really practical and useful. Although I live in the centre of a big city I find a walk in side streets around the centre as relaxing as a walk in the park.

Your video has motivated me to create a formal pre session routine plan. Thanks.

I finally watched your mindset videos too, and it was about time :) A lot of very valuable points here!

I have a question about the pre-session routine. I noticed that you didn't include any poker specific actions in them. I assume that this was intentional :) I'm not an expet on my mindset yet, but I would imagine that analyzing some hands (maybe from the previous session) would also be a good way to get myself in a focused mindset. Would you also recommend this kind of approach?

Leszek Badurowicz 9 years ago

Of course! Analysing hands can improve your game and set your focus on thinking about the strategy, ranges etc. From a session preparation perspective, it is also important to have in mind that you are doing things which will help you during a session. This way, not only will you improve your game, but also prepare your mindset.

Hi Leszek, if you were to suggest one most important/basic thing to get started with building a warmup routine, what would it be?

Leszek Badurowicz 9 years ago

Stop thinking and start doing ;-) Start from a small step. Try refreshing walk before your session. The next try short breathing excercise, then try listening to relaxing music. Then do the stuff in the videos. If writing this sort of diary seems too complex at the beginning, try from more simple one. Just start taking notes about your general emotional arousal 1-10 and note your game quality. After some time you should notice which emotional arousal level is the best for you. After that you need just to include some techinques which will help you to achieve that.

Champion's League part made me laught :D
It remind me when as a kid i was attending some B-class game (lowest football league in my country) and the teams and players were so god damn awful, but the best part was that in this particular town they were still enterting the pitch with CL music :D

Anyway, nice video, as always. I really hope that we're gonna see more mindset-related videos in future.
