Paul picks up right where he left off in part 1 with an explanation of the math behind his 4bet and 5bet shoves from the previous video.

In the KJs hand, don't you think that he will 3b shove a decent amount of hands (22-66, some Ax, some broadways) which narrows his non-AI 3betting range quite a bit?
Paul Senter 12 years, 4 months ago
Ye that's a good point. I doubt many people would chose to 3b fold the small pairs but I think they could 3b fold some week Ax hands here..
Also if these hands aren't in his 3b range I don't think it tightens his range enough to stop a jam from being profitable.

Hi, Paul. Nice vids!
About 5bet shove hand with Q9s - you assumed that opponent 4bets 20% of time, but he has open raising range, which is not 100%. Dont u have to multiply 20% and his openraising range to find his exact 4bet range? And there is 12bb stack behind you. Does it make open raising range and your 3bet range tighter?

Thanks Lekerov.
Thanks also for spotting my mistake in the maths, as you're right about me not taking his opening range into account. However, to find his 4b range I would assume he opens about 35-40% from that seat with that stack and therefore will maybe 4b 20% of that range so 7-8% of total hands of which only about 3% are induces. I would therefore get about 60% of folds and not 80% if he is balanced. However, I think he could flat AA/KK here some % if he thinks I'm light, making his 4b inducing range even tighter and my jam more profitable if this is the case.

One other point is that feel is important too. It could be that in this given spot he was in the mood to 4b every single hand he opened. The maths justifies the play as profitable, but if you have a good read on your opponents timing/sizing/attitude etc it could be massively profitable. (not saying I did in this hand, but in general =) )

Regarding smaller stacks around me, I think they are a mixed blessing, as in general you may get more credit for a 3b if you are committed to calling shorties, and q9s does have 33% v 88+/AJo+ so it wouldn't be the end of the world if we had to gamble..

Paul, great video. Keep it up.
on 8 min. with KK i still prefer flat with giving stacks behind, and if you choose to 3bet, i think sizing it smaller betweet 15.8-17k gives more feeling of fold equity to original raiser and blinds.

Thanks Anton, and totally agree. Thought when I watched it back a flat was probably better on .FR.. oops! Think I just felt its way too convenient to have it here so he must jam loads. Although probably optimistic and I lose the shorties nearly all the time.
Don't think the 3b sizing matters too much as long as its 2.5x or less just because some people may be more inclined to jam when there's more out there. Pretty player specific I guess. Vs sum1 good I think they can go 2 ways to a larger sizing, either think im bad and have AK or think i'd make it smaller/inducier with premiums. Definately something to play around with...

I don't think its wrong or right. I think stacksize/stats/villain/position are all important factors in these spots. If I had like 35x or less I'd probably fold, but with 70x it's easier to take on slightly smaller edges. Also his stats would have been laggy enough for me to think a call is good here. However, I think ATo and 77 would have been the weakest I called with here.

Hi Paul, thx for the great vid.
I was wondering if the push with 77 (at 43:00) was not too spewy.

By pushing here so deep, you narrow your own range to nearly exactly what you got (66-99), then his calling range is going to be way wider. By running the maths, i can't figure the good move here.
Paul Senter 12 years, 3 months ago
No problem. Ye I don't really like my jam either, I think a flat is probably best in general. However I didn't think he would be 3b 88-TT to 5b jam that often. So although I kind of turn my hand face up I don't think it really alters his calling range much as its prob AQs/JJ+. Whereas he is a gd lag so will be 3b lite there all day. Also, in this tourney it's probably a bad jam as I should be looking to play a slightly lower variance style.
Paul Senter 12 years, 3 months ago
Apologies again for delay.. But yes think I play the same here with AK/JJ. Vs some opposition I would 4b those hands but this guy didn't seem to be getting out of line all that often and due to a relatively weak field I would take a lower variance line in general.

hey paul, thanks for these videos on french stars.
i'm french, playing on stars and winamax, really helpful to have a foreign look on it
we are not all donktards by the way :p

Hi Ashroth. No problem, glad you like them. Sorry if I've sounded rude towards the french, I do think the UK players are challenging for the worst on average crown too... Just say it as I see it =). Not trying to offend anyone though, but at the same time a fair bit of my decision making can come down to nationality so don't want to ignore it either.
