nice vid! personally I prefer to see you play deeper stacked which is more your specialty but this is cool too for mtt situations.
few comments:
6:45 K7 idk if V would limp/stab flop this texture IP w/Ax but if so it seems reasonable to xr riv vs. OB blocking AK/KT and near bottom of range.
15:30 K9 i don't really get why this isn't a vbet otr.
17:10 TT isn't it kind of weird for sauce to cont this turn card 60% which heavily favors Hero's range?
24:00 KT i think you should just call there near top of range and in a session where he has shown down flop bets w/bottom pair at least once so he should expect you to be aware he takes this line with those hands.
6:45 - it seems like he's repping A3/A4 type hands fairly well, and I'd consider the top of range stuff I want to block more like A2/A5. For this reason I think I'd lean towards T2s/K2 combos for x/r bluffing.
15:30 - my comments on the video are pretty accurate to how I feel about the spot, just keep in mind that I'm referring specifically to K9 and not necessarily to other similar/9x strength hands.
17:10 - I can definitely connect with this card, but I'm guessing he thinks he can as well with a small sizing strategy that probably includes AsX on the flop. He may want to continue firing these hands since they have the nut redraw on the turn.
great video.
at 40min wit k6, u say u dont like his sizing. is this bc he allows u to fold a lot of non kx type hands so with bluffs he runs into King too much cuz dont block king and when have king, u will be overfolding and the worse parts of ur range dont give his Kx value? Should he be sizing down to not harshen blocker effects?
This is the concern, yeah. It's possible that this can become okay when he has the clear advantage in top end Kx hands (like he does on the turn) but the river is favourable to my strong draws, which should make another large size a poor strategy.
I really enjoy all these HU videos between you and Sauce.
@~21:00, on the JTAJT board, you mention that you are inclined to bluff with the very bottom of your range with hands like 24, as they block combos of Ax. Could you elaborate more on this spot? How is 24 any different than 69dd, or 75, for example at blocking Ax?
@~24:00, on the 247T2 board, I've seen in many instances (in Sauce videos), that he tends to attack "capped" leads quite often with a very wide range of hands. We don't have many overpairs (or any for that matter), fewer combos of 2x, not too many combos of sets, and many hands to fall into the ~KT hand class. I guess the turn play was a little weird, and maybe Sauce mixes his frequencies on turn with those hands as well. However, if this is the case, should we b/f KT here? We're near the very top of our range, and we don't have too many better hands to call. If we are only b/c with 2x, I think this becomes a x/c on the river? Not sure if I'm ranging correctly though. Maybe if we never lead river with anything less than a Ten, we can fold?
@~33:00, on the T65ss board, would Jc7s find its way into your x/r range some low frq? To a have pot sizing, do you think the EV(call) > EV(x/r) with this exact hand? What about other portions of our x/r range? Does this hand add enough value to other portions of your x/r range, and our x/c range?
21 - I'm making the assumption that he will check down weaker top pairs at a higher frequency than stronger top pairs.
24 - It's possible I made a mistake here by applying some psychological reads from my usual population. I believe I mentioned in the video that this is a very strong fold and almost certainly a theoretical mistake.
33 - Do you mean as a flop x/r? If so, probably not against most strategies because this hand is too weak. Against a likely minbet, however, it might make the cut.
hey, great video:)
7:15; Q64m u mentioned you have checking range on the flop, what other hands do u want to have in checking range on the flop besides obvious ones like 88, 99.
10:26: with J9o two pairs on the river you mentioned that checking river is reasonable play given your blockers. Can you explain this a bit more?
27:30: Why you want to be betting 753r big? I understand why betting big in previous hand with 99 on 852s was your preffered option, since the SPR is smaller, but here betting BIG with hand like 99, TT would leave you with an awkward SPR on the turn?
28:35 What draws he can pick to bet for that big sizing on the turn on T82 turn 2.
7:15 - I think I'd check more than you are expecting here, with hands as strong as KQ no spades or AA but also more obvious hands like you mentioned. My cbet frequency is not high in this spot.
10:26 - I don't remove any Qx which would be my target bluffcatcher if he bet/calls against a river x/r. I also remove Jx/9x which are obvious calls against a lead that won't necessarily bet/call.
27:30 - I don't know that I picked the absolute best sizing here, but I'm generally not too concerned with the idea that I'm leaving behind an awkward SPR. I think that's psychologically uncomfortable for a lot of people, but it doesn't really present a strategic problem.
28:30 - I think any draw he checked on the flop is a valid option to bluff here for large sizing (QJ, 67, spades, etc).
39:00 A6 what would sauce x/r OTF here. I feel like we could potentially call his flop raise if his range contains enough gutshot type hands and we can assume he doesnt x/r many Kx. what are your thoughts on this?
41:00 QT fyi i'd play it the same way, inducing shoves from weaker and always getting called by better anyways. plays well post
39 - You might be right here, and I didn't think too much about it with the other hand going on table 2. I do think with such a low SPR he'll fastplay some Kx, possibly some A3/A2 type hands, some fds. It's likely that this hand falls in the top section of my cbet range as well, which is important enough to merit calling/shoving.
i don't wanna be disrepectful at all, but this vid was very very poor compared to others, you were way too weak against him
if you are interested, i will detail the hands i really disagree on below,
didnt put it here, cause it would have been looked as disrecpecfull to post all what i didnt like in a comment
No disrespect taken, but I think your attitude presents an interesting topic. First, I don't recall if I said this during the series, but I think I played subpar throughout these matches. I certainly played fine and made some good plays but I didn't pick this series because of my excellent play so much as for the excellent density of interesting content.
Second, I wonder if you're experiencing a natural bias when you describe my play as weak. I do acknowledge I made a few folds that could have been calls, but I don't think my overall strategy was substantially different than in any of my other videos. The largest difference here is likely my opponent. Sometimes a match doesn't go my way and there's a psychological urge to make something happen. I put a lot of mental energy into quieting that voice, because losing a bunch of pots in a short period of time isn't always a good reason to change one's strategy.
If you think that isn't the case, which is entirely possible, I'm always happy to analyse individual spots that weren't specifically addressed in the commentary. I would note that I didn't do this commentary live and I won't be attempting to justify every individual play I made. I do think my ability to recognize and analyse mistakes is very good, but unfortunately that doesn't stop me from making just as many as the next guy during my sessions.
I don't agree that the footage was "wrong", there is no such a thing. The footage is just the way it was, doing your best against a tough opponent, but I found the analysis was super condescendent with your play, justifying bad plays. I saw a vid a few days ago already, but I still remember the bet/fold on the river with KT and I think it's just plain and simple a bad play, an overfolding adjustment based on no showdowns, and you sort of justified it, and it was not the only time you did it through the video. I didn't finish because of this, you're one of the top guys here but I missed more honesty with bad plays, especially when not in live footage.

29:10 Sauce trolling :P
:) for some reason made me laugh too. Obviously the highest EV play though...
