In the AJs hand does Villain take that line on flop + turn always with AK?

Difficult to know exactly how villain is playing their range preflop/post flop. But I would say its very likely we see villain this way with AK at a very high frequency.

I really like this format.

At 21:20 I do understand 3 betting here from time to time, but it just seems to set up a very high variance spot. I go back and forth on taking spots like this and lately I have been avoiding them to lower variance. Is this too passive a mindset?

Also opp defend pre seems light given our stack size.

Thanks.

Cheers mate, I plan to do more videos in this format in the future.

21:20 - At equilibrium A9o is a mix of 3bet/fold - favouring 3bet ~80% of the time (chIp EV). Players generally overfold vs a 3bet preflop (especially later positions) which makes me want to 3bet slightly more preflop. Sure its a higher variance line, but it wins chips and also it can make you much more difficult to play against pre/postflop. If you're too tight 3betting preflop your range on the flop is going to be too narrow and much more easier to play against. For the most part I will just randomise the spot and change the ranges slightly as we experience higher ICM pressure. Villains defend is standard at equilibrium, although vs population I would fold as its slightly under bluff preflop.

I was a bit surprised by the A9o 3bet. However, if you frame it the way you did vs an late position open and account for blocker effects it seems actually quite reasonable. Is there an rough bb cutoff where it makes sense to stop doing this? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Hey mate. Yes these offsuit combos generally get 3bet more often at shallower stack depths as the play much better at shallower SPR's compared to deep stacked. At 50bb I would be 3betting this at a lowish frequency 10-15% and if we were say 100bb I would be looking to pure fold.

great review.
In the A9o hand i think u have a very obvious tell when u size to a full 4x here. I would assume u size down w QQ+. I feel extremely confident that you as well population does so as well. So imo ur range has more bluffs and unpaired hands, (AK,AQ,KQ,KJ etc) so vs a player who is paying attention, i think ur sizing isnt great. i think we can and should be using different 3 bet sizings as an exploit (sizing down w our nutted hands to get more calls, sizing up w bluffs) but imo a very slippery slope as i think u will get 4 bet jammed on more w ur sizing due to worse odds to flat and ur range is lacking nutted hands. imo would just be careful w ur 3 bet sizings on this stack depth. cuz i do believe the full 4x here is significantly lacking nutted hands and prone to more unpaired 3 bet bluffs
