35:34 your opening UTG on a 18bb stack. there's noooo way that small blind will assume your range is loose unless you been agro.. which in turn, makes their range much tighter then portrayed. the position is one of the first thing your opponent with analyze. and no one would open such a range utg unless they are attempting to commit ICM suicide.

What would your opening range be in this situation and what are you basing that opening range on?

Perhaps SB shoves slightly tighter. What I generally do is I give SB a slightly wider shoving range and a slightly tighter shoving range in this situation to see how it effects my calling range and will apply it in game depending on if I think villain is on the tighter/looser side.

Great video ryan.

At 20:30 my first thought was to flat aqs vs utg and you mention that may have been better. At what stack depth do you eliminate a flat rng and go jam or fold? Vs LP I feel we can jam wider at deeper stacks, but I feel with medium strength hands relative to utg open rng I want to maintain a flat rng even short stacked.

At 36:30 this may be similar to the question I asked on your last video but it seems we can open raise/fold kts. You also mention folding kqs, but again I would like to raise this. So often you just end up hu with the bb post flop.

Thanks.

Thanks mate!

20:30: Firstly I will just say I don't have preflop charts below 15bb effective, but I do think it is reasonable to have a flatting range off 14bb, even lower if there is significant ICM pressure involved. I also think this holds more true for playing out of the small blind.

36:30: Yes this is a very clear mistake from me and these hands should certainly fall into our min raise fold category.

Hey, thanks for video

I don't play MTT very actively so perhaps stupid question : what do we exactly mean by soft bubble? In the money but having a coming payjump? What kind of payjumps are we talking about as reference to first KJo utg fold?

Thank you.

Sorry I have only just seen this message, I must have missed it! What I mean by soft bubble is when we are within 1% of the field remaining until we first enter the money. For example 15% of the field get paid, but there are 16% of the field remaining, I would classify this as soft bubble.

Hi Ryan,

great series, I dont think it is appreciated nearly enough taht you though of this topic and then also put in the dilligent work.
I was totally in line with all you have been saying up until 13.00 :)
Havíng a jam only range from SB when we VPIP seems like a huge mistake, unless BB is very ICM aware and pounding hard on us with jams and iso-raises. VS many villains it makes a ton of sense to have a limping range as well, vs very weak ones we could even have a non-AI raising range.
Yes limping kinda sucks as we will be OOP postflop with a relatively high SPR and suboptimal EQR, but still, we wont be limping super wide (around the bottom of our jamming range + traps), thus will have a pretty strong range going to the flop and more importantly we will bust far less often.

Hey mate, thanks for the message and glad you appreciated the content. It was a topic which I had a bit of interest in and a spot which I thought population weren't giving enough wait.

I agree completely that we should have a limping range at these stack depths BVB. I re-watched the clip at 13:00, but was unable to find exactly where I said we should have a shove only strategy. Would you be able to timestamp exactly where I said that please?

HeyGals 3 years, 6 months ago

Well you did not say at any point, that we should have a jam only range, in fact you even said that you thought ot would be better to limp it, but as you jammed it ingame and were only looking and talking about openjamming ranges, I assumed you would be playing close to jam only. I probably wrote the comment before watching the part where you said limp is better...
