12 min mark "certainly rigged" LOL love the Human @Carroters

23 min mark - I like @HenryLister using 65s "going for it at 100%" against players he is not going to play a lot with. Even if he is going to play a lot with them, I think most people don't 4 bet enough, so would still do it IP just to max exploit the player with a polar range.

34:40 - I can't find a fold Tariq Haji with 9c8c on KcJc7x board. Just seems like too many outs (12) [not knowing BB hand] so seems like a pure continue with a combo draw, have around 29% pot odds. So don't need to make much on the river for this to be profitable. I ran a GTO+ solve on this, screen shot below, but you can see most OE+ draws are pure continues, but starting to fold some AK and KxQc type hands. Folding about 25% of the time with OE draws. Looks like the 7cXc hands wants to raise the turn blocking 77 and some of BB two pair hands.

Green = call | blue = raise | red = fold
used snowie BB defense range preflop and standard MP opening range with some SCs added.

I can understand the fold as he is horribly losing against dominating flush draws and might have negative outs vs. sets and 2pairs. But yes surprising.

First hand. Sb vs BB range cbet on that board. Is that even a thing?
I would assume both ranges to have lots of air and as the OOP cbetting entire range there will get you raised often and having to fold.
For me it's one off the main exploits I use at lower stakes. People cbet too often, especially OOP. I'm surprised to see a RIO coach doing the same.

A63r seems like a standard cbet spot. Don't think BB fights back very often with a lot of middling cards. SB should definitely have equity advantage here.

Tariq Haji 4 years, 5 months ago

Hey lIlCitanul, I was mistaken by saying range c bet I definitely regretting say that after the fact haha!

It's def a board I wanna c bet small aggressively as well as check a lot. I don't mind c betting my hand but I def agree I want to have alot of checks.

The thing about Axx is that OOP will have a high density of unique hands which want to play smaller pots (88-KK). It's not all about range advantage.

I am basically range betting 1/3 here and don't expect for humans to attack a semi-dry board at a high enough frequency. Would look at BB raise range and figure out how many people are actually raising with this range or calling with enough back doors. I'm like 97% sure 1/3 cbet just prints on this board.

Mheitz 4 years, 4 months ago

This is for sure both an easy spot to mess up and a lower like 45% frequency c-bet board. Like Kx will probably be nearly 100% checking here Qx a lot of checking as well. But I do think the T9o will like to take a 33% sizing here like 30-40% of the time maybe a little more bc the 63 is pretty disconnected and the BB shouldn’t have too too much 3x like hell have only suited 3x and not 100% of many of those combos. So it’s a little dryer and safer OOP in future streets for value hands. T9 benefits from both getting calls from 6x and having overcard equity in the future and folding out jack high queen high and some king high. I also think in low stakes cash a higher cbet frequency is typically Just a good exploit.

RunItTw1ce i think maybe the thing you are missing is that since it’s dry in the sense that the A is top pair, it’s true that your Kx type hands are winning against most of his range, but when you bet you will narrow their range significantly such that by turn your are probably at a range disadvantage and Often your Kx is going to need runner runner to improve. You say it’s probably printing and I agree at low stakes it is usually a good exploit to cbet a bit more but range cbet is just going to be too high % and you will lose EV. With like Kx you are going to make more money checking ahead and keeping hands you are a big favorite in the pot and then both hitting a pair you dominate and getting money in the pot rather than betting a board where you really only fold out hands that you have huge equity against or get called by many hands that you’re more or less dead against.

Nice format, maybe a bit slow but good for a change. Showing good ‘basic’ strategy and reasoning without any crazy plays going on.

“Wish we could see showdown hands” Yes we too, without opening the replayer that is.

So who is the best player on the table then? LOL

Peter Clarke 4 years, 5 months ago

I think it's evident who the best player here is if you look at the positioning of the five of us in the video picture. This is of course excluding Marle who crushed us all.

McLuckie 4 years, 5 months ago

You will always be our number one but RIO could do with a bit more woman power for sure :D

Also looking at that video picture, I wouldn't want to sit on a table with cosmos1994 haha

Really love this format! Would also be cool to have format of like 3 RIO coaches and 3 RIO subs. Everyone loves to see young grasshopper vs sensei!

Bleak 4 years ago

I really enjoyed this format! And I felt like I learned quite a bit from hearing the thought process of each coach. Very well done all! I hope RIO does more videos like this one, different stakes and mixes of players.
