POSTED Feb 16, 2024

Richard Gryko picks up the action with just four players remaining holding a massive chip lead and looks to navigate the choppy ICM waters of avoiding the pitfalls of playing too loose with his stack vs applying the appropriate level of pressure.

Would like to see the rest of the tourney.

25:33 does this hand ever get to check back flop? Perhaps at deeper effective stacks in order to avoid a xr?

28:20 you said at 50bb we would want to chk back flop. Are you not wanting to get this in even at 50bb if we face a xr?

Thanks!

25.33 - its a pretty clear +cEV cbet, so the answer rests almost entirely in stack distributions...if, for example, im a 50bb stack vs a 100bb stack in BB with two 20bb stacks filling the remaining seats, then yeah, sure. In this spot, though, I can apply enough pressure that im cbetting flop with a high enough freq that chk back would play kinda oddly. As a general rule, in any distribution where im advantaged, id always cbet, in most distributions where im disadvantaged, id consider chking (but would also likely have not opened pre to begin with)...so, basically, if im opening it, im cbetting it.

28.20 - I havent run equities to confirm, but it feels like getting it in at 50bb would be fineish vs the range you get it in against in a cash game, and pretty/very bad for both chips and dollars vs the range you get it in against in most tournaments.

I would also like to see the rest. Seeing everyone's hole cards is very informative and more interesting than any other form of content.

Been interesting to hear your thoughts on pf limping strategies overall during this vid series. Has your opinion changed at all towards playing limps in the past year since this tourney was played? I feel like limping is becoming much more meta recently in the plo mtt streets in all stages of a tourney lifecycle.
