At 36:25 you're talking about 3betting a polarized range in the bb vs a sb open. I've heard you talk about this before, but I'm not exactly sure why that's better than 3betting a linear range. I always thought it would be better to 3bet a linear range for playability purposes in these spots, but would be very interested to know why you prefer going with the polarized approach in these spots.
Since we can defend a lot of hands w/ postflop playability because of the odds we get, we can 3bet hands w/ limited postflop playability, and balance these out with strong valuehands.
at 31min, u say JT is good candidate to bet/bet. i agree that u can't really c/c or c/r it so u might get ur equity denied if u check, but u block jj/tt which are pretty likely to fold and dont seem to block any strong hands. and when u bet and get called, the jack or ten have little to no SD value. thoughts?
The jack and the ten still have some SD value, he might check back 99/8x type hands on the flop. On this board we will have enough value hands that we want to bluff some no equity or close to to them hands and having a gutter to the nuts makes JT/QJ/JT much more attractive than say 79hh. While we block JJ/TT we also block AJ/AJ, KJ/KT which are some of his stronger bluff catchers if he chooses to 3b those pre.
at 31min, in his shoes, in a normal tournament without icm implications, what wud ur 3b range be 50bb deep versus guy opening btn a lot? u say ATo isn't great to 3b enuf tho its ahead of opening range. wud u flat that and prefer to 3b like A7o and stuff that can't call but blocks his contuining range?
