Hi Phil,

Top left at 3:12:
Coming from NL, I have a hard time identifying exactly how wide we should be flatting here pre. If the hand were AK87ss to the ace, can we get away with it given an unknown CO? I guess I'm not entirely sure how much coordination is required to make a hand like this profitable.

PLO makes it very tough to generalize about preflop play. I would fold AsK87s in tough games still. I'd call AKTx, AKJx, AKQx. I think AK98 is close.

With a weak opener or weak/passive blinds, I'd play AK87.

I hope that helps a little. If you want to ask about more hands, or have a general question, let me know. Disclaimer: Preflop is not my main area of expertise. These are just my guesses.

Great series. Any chance for some of that 2k HU PLO SCOOP action? Would love to see the final four from your point of view.

GL tomorrow, take it down!

Phil,

At the beginning of the video, top left table, you spend a fair bit of time talking about how AK84ss is not a flat OTB vs CO 3x open. I don't exactly disagree. However, it appears inconsistent with advice that you've given in other videos. For example, I remember one video where you said a hand like this is a must call vs a 2x open in the same spot. I also believe you'd call this and much weaker hands in the BB vs a 3.5x button open. Maybe vs CO also? Of course those are different situations with different ranges involved, but they don't seem SO different to me that for 2.5x it's a clear call whereas for 3x it's a clear fold.

To me it looks like a hand that wants to play a high SPR multiway pot, which isn't exactly what appears to be happening when CO opens 3x, but it's not auto happening in the other spots either.

Would you mind explaining how you view the difference pls?

Just a heads up to Bovada players: I would be somewhat cautious about putting money on this site presently. I made a post in "News" elaborating on some of my recent cash out issues and will update there when more information becomes available.
