Hello, love your vids,

at just under 1:00 the hero folded 89s vs a 3x. seems standard to me, only question i have is why exactly should we be playing so much tighter vs a 3x? like its not that much more of our stack compared to when we are calling vs a 2.5x... Dooes it have something to do with the precieved range of the 3x open?

Great question, it is exactly that. Perceived hand strength is much stronger vs a 3x, we lose more chips when we get 3b squeezed, and we also get into a exponentially bigger pot post flop essentially making effective stack sizes shallower.

10:05 : you mention how you will be tightening up you range and "not opening some stronger hands" because of how there are three re-jam stacks left to act. I'm curious what specifically are those "stronger hands" you will be cutting out of your open range here?

Akira Ohyama 8 years, 2 months ago

I would start cutting out the bottom of my value opening hands that can not call a jam from any of the stacks. Notably hands like offsuit broadways, Suited wheels, hands like 89s/9Ts

Hello

19:40 raising on the Button T8o 18bbs deep against 2 big stacks and very loose players.
I don't see how it can be a good open here.
I agree we are IP vs 2 very weak opponents but our hand does not play that good postflop against sticky players.

27:20 interesting hand . ( SB Squezze 4X , and a 20 bbs between . I personally would have fold pre flop.
I liked a lot your analysis Post flop

thx for the vid

I think that T8o flops pretty well against loose preflop peelers as we would flop top pair or the decent end of a draw quite often. We also have positional edge so we can open on the looser side here. It is important to note that as far as we know they aren't 3b happy so we are likely to at least see a flop.

Concise clear explanations, this is a very good video to learn playing those stages in MTTs where we get to 30-40 blinds.

Hi, nice analysis!
15:30 K8o - you are saying that we should bet more, because we do not want hands with Ac or freerolling hands 8x, Qx with a club to call. But don´t we want those hands to call, when we are big favourites against them and drag value from them??
32:22 QJs - isn´t it too shallow for us (16bbs eff.) to have a flatting range there?
Thanks.
