I think it's pretty good the raise with Q8s as protection on 32:00. Our hand loses a lot value on many turns on such a dynamic board. Also weaker players are cbeting they entire range 1/3 in a tone of boards that they shouldn't and they just don't know how to react when face a raise.
In his shoes, versus a competent player and 50bb deep, how would you proceed on this flop? SPR is small enough to bet big/get in with overpairs, or would you opt for a check/call at some frequency? Should we simply check/fold Ax's or even hands like AK/AQ/KQ/KJ without backdoors?
I think there are two ways to play this in his shoes. He could opt for a 100% check. This leaves my range at 100% and he should get some value from me overbluffing as this board is great for me to attack. However it does allow me a lot of free equity and makes turns/rivers difficult to play especially if I do bet flop as the pot starts to get pretty big for him OOP. The other option is to split his range sufficiently well so that I'm not incentivised to bluff any two when checked to. This means he's going to have to leave enough playable hands in his checking range to be able to defend vs flop bets with both calls and raises. This is the more difficult but more profitable line to take.
At 13:00 I would be making that 3bet 8.5-9.5 BB OOP I use larger sizes pre overall. Is that wrong cause his weak button range folds anyways to a smaller size? Maybe if he is a rec I will make it 3x but against a decent player I would size up even with 40bb stack. Thoughts?
14:25 is a spot I usually check and it always seems wrong especially in an mtt but never got to adjust. What would you do on an Ac turn, since we are betting most of our A high at the flop and he is not calling with many we should bet again? But then we make TT a bluff? And also what about an 8c?
Hi Owen Shiels At 12:20, just want to know why you are glad to call a 4Bet shove with A9s? Do you do that with some precise reads on specific players? Does this play is quiet "standard"?
Thanks for the reply.
If villain has a bluffing range which most people do in this situation it will be A2s-A5s and 22-66. We do fine vs that range plus we do ok vs his other pairs. We only hate AA or AT-AK. We'll be getting pretty good odds to call so even though we'll be behind his range we'll still usually have the right odds to call. Plus if we start folding all our non premiums here we are so easy to exploit (not that it matters in this trny!)
