Francesco Lacriola takes a look at situations where our opponent leads. Although rare, it's an important part of the tree that many players are starting to implement and knowing how to react to these bets can have a big impact on your bottom line.

I like the idea of adjusting to a node locked strat, but it seems the adjustment you made was so dramatic that it wouldn't be relevant for real in game play. You essentially removed all the nuts from OP when checking, leaving IP with the easiest strat moving forward. Would be nice to see this rerun with at least 3 set combos and some of the straight combos in the checking range. I imagine that would change IP bet freq quite a bit.

I wanted to discuss the two extreme situations in order to show how dramatic the adjustments can be.

Even against a slight imbalance the solver is going to increase the betting frequency for the IP player (although not as much as in the case showed in the video).

Mixed strategies are extremely difficult to implement correctly, as it's impossible to always be aware of the correct frequencies. However, it makes sense to implement them if we think we can induce our opponents to play in unfamiliar territory and we feel our opponents might feel uncomfortable facing some apparently unorthodox lines, that are fundamentally sound in reality.

Dear Francesco, from the moment your first couple of videos were released, I immediately thought to myself "this guy knows what's up and is Elite material".
Always looking forward to your new videos, but occasionally, one is a bit more of a "miss", for me personally.

Like this one.

While good work theoretically, in the midstakes games I play, I face basically no flop donk bets ever. Check/call flop, lead turn, has also lost it's popularity.

So this video is just not as practical or actionable as some of your other videos.

Still looking forward to the next video though.

Hi, thanks for your feedback!

The idea behind this video was more to give arguments in favor of develop leading ranges in situations in which population is not considering other options than checks, as playing against leads is extremely difficult sometimes, than to state that flop/turn leads are a dominant metagame trend.

I agree that it was more "theoretical" than my usual videos and less practical, as it can be difficult to concretely assess our opponents' ranges on later streets when they continue.

So if its not relevant in your games then the vid shouldn't be made? Are you the exclusive consumer of the content? I can see making a complaint if it was poorly made, but i happen to play live where the content is very relevant.

Hi Francesco,

I am a fairly new player and I don't know some of the terms very well. What do you mean when you say "at equilibrium"? Should I be basically leading most of my range on a card that is favorable for my range because incompetent IP player will overfold too often? I struggle about when to re-raise when raised...Should I be re-raising with nutted hands, or hands with lots of equity and blockers to nutted hands? I guess I should be implementing a mixed strategy where I sometimes call nutted hands and sometimes raise. Anyway, just talking out-loud here. Hope you can clarify and summarize it for me a bit more... Thanks!
