great vid great way to wrap up the year. all 10 things are enlightening, and having followed you pretty closely last year the "Landing Range" concept has been highly impactful and I would say imo learning to use the rng protocol of defining strat then rolling (if required) as you said really forces one to think in more correct terms and gives a much better overall perspective imo. I appreciate everything you have taught me thank you. ps; the term fold equity ...its not really equity its not calculated on the equity side of the EV calc its a frequency. Don't like MDF either , misleading then there's "over realizing" maybe a new poker dictionary is in order. lol.
Your 9th point is why I think Andrew Brokos “Play Optimal Poker 2: Range Construction” is such a great book for new players trying to wrap their head around GTO. He only uses the same 2 ranges UTGvBB in a srp to navigate GTO strategies in different situations.
I enjoyed this video through and through and I have to say that I really like the way that you are talking about poker! It feels a bit like putting some type of sunglasses on that lets me see the at times chaotically seeming output of a solver in a new light that I can grasp and understand.
Very much looking forward to your content in 2022 and may you be even more amazed by the game than you were in 2021. Cheers!
The sun glasses have gradually been becoming more effective for quite some time though. I have to say that solver study and coaching are the main reasons for this. I definitely remember the feeling of being blinded by the poker sun well.
Great video Pete as always. Appreciate you sharing your learnings and your honesty. Laughed out loud at the 'I have a King and I'm mad an ace came so I pot twice' bit!!
Because we crave feed back, do you have your graph from 2021? The last hand of the video with QsQc on the QdTh4d-9h-6h board its so hard not to bet with sets there even though you block the calling range. On wizard QQ/TT is checking back (QhQx still mixing bet) and 44 betting unblocking more of the calling range.
I will say I really appreciate the quality of the videos you put out, Pete. I watch them all the time. Having said that, I think you might benefit from going back and carefully editing videos after recording to make sure your logic is sound.
As an example, your first live play hand with 43dd on J 7 2 (one diamond), I went back to check the solve myself and this appears to be a pure fold on the flop. I found this surprising as I would have thought 43dd would be a perfect raise as well for all of the reasons you mentioned, but that is not the case. After reviewing the solve it looks like most of the check-raise bluffs are hands with cards around the J and 7. In particular hands that contain a 10 or 9 (like A9, K9, Q9, K10, Q10, etc.) that can be barreled on straight completing turns because they have valuable blockers.
FYI, I am using the solver plus app on my phone to check this while watching your videos, so obviously tweaking ranges slightly might have an impact here. Just wanted to call out what I am seeing to provide useful feedback. If you go back and check your logic before posting videos I think that would help the quality.

Top notch video as usual!
Yeah it's also fine to look at random spots but only after the student has enough of the tools to make sense of common spots in a sound way.

Thanks a lot. There are quite a few of these random rec thought processes that lead to some pretty absurd blunders.
Valuable video, thanks for making it. Glad to hear about the better life balance win! I enjoyed the slide/play format.

I really like how you sprinkle hand examples throughout the video!
