Paul Gough seeks to simplify the process of studying with solvers and is an excellent starting point for players that may have a lot of experience in poker but haven't taken to solvers to work on their game.

This is another extremely timely and helpful video. GTOWizard's community and userbase continues to grow by the day and it's nice to have a basic how to when it comes to AI. The ability to have your hands uploaded and analyzed is pretty incredible to me. I also enjoyed the live hand review as I'm going to be playing live for the first time pretty soon here.

Question, however: I see a lot of you are using PIO and GTOWiz. What are you using PIO for that Wizard can't do? I have never used any version of PIO but do have GTO+. I see that PIO3 just came out the other day.

Thanks ModernGrinder, really appreciated. I just prefer the interface in PIO as that's what I've used the most but i don't think there is any difference between the two now that GTOWizard has node locking.

If you'd like to see more hands being reviewed myself and Alexandra Fagaras will be running a hand history review session live on RIOs youtube channel on Sunday evening. Check out the ''live'' tab on their youtube page.

Probably the only thing that Pio > Wizard is the report function -- Don't think Wizard can do report as of now but pretty sure they have it in their roadmap.

Paul Gough I liked the style and presentation a lot. Two of you bouncing ideas off of each other's minds becomes a smooth, fast, and complete way of really breaking down a lot of spots in a reasonable period of time. I'm eagerly awaiting your next session...

Hey ModernGrinder, thanks for the feedback, we would love to continue running these sessions and the way that happens is by RIO seeing positive reviews so feedback like yours is much appreciated. I will send you a direct message if we run another one. Good luck at the tables.

Hello Paul Gough,

I watched your video, and I found it to be a valuable starting point for players looking to incorporate solvers into their poker study routines like myself. Great content!

I have the habit of making notes of the key takeaways from the content I consume. If you allow, I will leave it here for future reference as well:

Focus on Common Poker Spots: Starting with the most common poker scenarios, such as BTN vs Blinds and Blind vs Blind situations, is a practical approach. Additionally, beginning with Ace High Boards seems like a wise choice to build a strong foundation.

Building Heuristics: Creating heuristics based on solver insights can help simplify complex decisions and guide our gameplay effectively.

Using Solvers for Understanding: Solvers are valuable tools for improving our comprehension of poker. Understanding the 'why' behind solver decisions is critical to using them effectively.

Applying Solver Insights to Your Game: Relating solver solutions to our game allows us to recognize opportunities to increase our expected value (EV).

Equal important, what to avoid when working with solvers:

  • Not viewing solvers as the sole answer to beating poker, recognizing that they are just one tool in our toolkit.
  • Not attempting to unthinkingly mimic solver outputs without understanding the reasoning.

Your insights encourage a thoughtful and strategic approach to using solvers to enhance our poker skills. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping us simplify the process of studying with solvers!

Hey mentees_07buffet, thanks for the positive feedback.

Really appreciate that you broke down the video into key takeaways, I think that's really valuable for yourself and others who see this comment so thanks for that.

All the best with your study and good luck at the tables.

Hey Paul,
Enjoyed the video. I have been using PIO for some time and I have a question about the node locking feature. In PIO when I am node locking and changing frequencies of flush draws (or BDFD), I always click the hand (say ATs) and then manually change it from ATs to AhTh in the select range using expression box in order to change betting frequencies. Is there a way to filter to specific suits in the node lock screen that I am not seeing? Feel like this is doing it the hard way.

Any advice on making that process easier would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think what you are talking about is in the top right hand when you click on the range selection, if that isnt what you mean feel free to add me on discord and ill help you out. DC: goughy88
