5:48 Can you elaborate on this turn strategy after calling a 25% donk bet? A few questions that first come to my mind are:
1) Why are A8s/A7s betting more than A6s? Is it just unblocking 6x? But then K6s betting more than K7s.
2) Why is J9s betting more often than KJ?
3) Is protection betting with TT-88 not a thing?
I seem to be overly merged in this spot betting way more 6x, 7x, FD, JX, etc equity driven and appear to have the strategy upside down still in this spot. Looks to be a very polarized spot, but the bet size is only 3/4 pot preferred, so I would think it would be a bit more merged around A5+.
1) I would assume it is because they can get some better hands to fold, still get called by A6, I think this also ties into why K6 bets more than K7, because blocking 6x more relevant to remove continues and you always get better hands to fold when holding K6.
2) Protection, have.2 street value hand so prefer to get value immediately. KJ happy to delay the street it gets value on
3) I think it doesnt have enough equity (77 blocking, but has additional gutter to give more future street valuebets) in theory
Polar and betsize only 3/4 for very good reason, OOP still uncapped and still has nut advantage given our positions
Happy new year! Enjoy the detail in these videos as always!
25.30 - Q4ss on T62ssJ
On the 3 river the Q4ss was still bluff shoving, and most of the other spades were giving up. I think the reason is that OOP can still have 54ss at a small frequency. I've seen this often on rivers that complete a straight - PIO will play check-call twice at a low frequency with combo-draws with no showdown value like 54s for board coverage and because it can get good implied odds when IP has an advantage in rivered straights and therefore a river shoving range. The river shoving range from IP gives OOP sufficient implied odds to call even a big turn bet despite no showdown value. I suspect humans however will cbet more as OOP with these draws than PIO, and check-raise turn more than PIO with them, so whether this 4s blocker is worth anything in practise is another thing!
