POSTED Oct 21, 2020

Owen Shiels continues to examine a tournament that is typically played live in the UK but has turned to the virtual felt in the Covid era and Owen frequently finds himself with marginal decisions opting for the less variance filled option with a relatively novice field.

Great series owen. At 41:45 you 3bet ak vs an 18bb stack who has 16bb after his open. Are you ever bluff 3betting vs a stack that size? It seems difficult to create a 3bet bluff rng there but it also seems difficult to find any other way of playing a hand like ak. Thanks.

@05:45 whats your river strategy unimproved ? on 6c8h5sTh how would it differ on say 2c, 2h, Tc Ks with this player pool vs what you'd expect to see at GTO? cheers

ps also in a couple of spots you mention you prefer to ch back hands that have decent equity, but would be forced to fold vs ck/r. Do you think people in weaker fields ck/r flops at anywhere near GTO freq? Its an area I'm working on in my studies and imho people don't BUT people will call more freq and get sticky, which then makes what you say about SPR in several spots really important. Is that because at lower SPR we are less able to dent equity with our bets? many thanks

Also Paul Siddle is on the table who has $750K live winnings on Hendon - so maybe not such a soft table/tourney that you thought you had

haha just seen you now also have Andy Hills on the table with over $1 mill live earnings
so not really a novice field

You are implying that weak fields can have no good players in them. You've named 3. There were a lot more than 3 players to play against. Also I'm sure these are good players, but be careful thinking that a high amount of live cashes equals good players. There are plenty of players out there who have cashed for 7 fig+ who are not great at poker anymore.
