What are your thoughts on the button straddle in NL games? Share the same thoughts as PLO button straddle?

I think in NL it's significantly less detrimental to the game. I also think its significantly more -ev for the straddler.

Both due to the way equity is distributed among hands

I've played these games for years. The multi limpers model I think is the exception. In most games the straddle promotes action. After the blinds complete, others are raising at a higher frequency, taking advantage of potentially weak ranges in the blinds and playing an inflated pot in position especially w deep stacks. If you are playing 5/5 w 15 straddle and have to put in $10 with a 75% chance of being raised, many times you will be forced to put in good money after bad. In these aggressive games, your range has to be much stronger. In addition, especially with drinking there are sometimes multiple straddles that can be 10x or more of BB, so therefore playing loose out of blinds is increasingly bad

I have to say, since making this video ive played 5/10/20 with a rock at aria and that didnt ruin the game nearly as much as the 5/5 games at the rio. Its possible the few games i played in were particularly bad due to the combination of weak/tight play that you find at 5/5 and the effect of the button straddle

I have played the 18 game mix at aria for three years now and have added two of the new games you speak of that being double board Omaha high and razzdugi. Only one of the sessions I played had any strong players in it a majority of recreational players looking to have fun. I beleive all decent poker players can adapt to any game in a short amount of time I tried to make them add more to the mix and they called me crazy. A great version of plo called corsival they use to play in France where one of you up cards is dealt face up. I see mix games as the next thing to become popular all games were weird when we started playing them.

Yes, plenty of those exist, in a variety of different formats. (NL, PLO, mixed draw, certain limit games). Id recommend going to wsop.com and clicking on the schedule tab to see aailable

hello, i have been looking for the rules of these games, such as super stud especially. Do you know anywhere i can read up on these, need some practice in case i do find myself there.

Apoth 8 years, 7 months ago

unfortunately i do not. Im sure some of the more basic ones could be googled but things like super razz dacey i haven't got a clue.

It's not necessarily -ev.

If you are good enough you can still overcome the taxes.

That being said, its significantly worse than for someone from the UK or for a canadian playing an ept for example.

What a VERY poor analysis on the mixed games and use of the ROCK or button straddle. This is obvious a holdem and PLO player that doesnt play these 'weird' games and hence does not get it. I look forward to the day these guys sit down at the mixed games as money goes up.....to the more skilled players in other words the ones that can adapt to any format and structure of game/setting
