This was a great intro to progressive which I didn't really understand properly before. Now that I've seen the incredible fantasyland hands that you can get I'm hyped to play it. Putting AA right up top scares me a little but it's worth gambling for the big pay off. Thanks for this......going to try it out. Sometimes when I get short stacked in a mtt I just go for it bc u have nothing to lose....so i have to learn to play more like that in cash games
Thank you for finally making a video about this!
Here noone every plays any other variation anymore. :D
At 17:00 the Q up top is not even remotely close. I think it's actually a huge mistake. Ending up with QQ up top is not even something I'm happy about. Against a decent opponent, who knows where to put aces, it's not that rare that you actually lose the next hand. Also you don't have the chance to get into 16 Card Fantasy for one more hand...:)
We actually play it so that if you stay with AA, you get 16 cards over and over again. (Sometimes with a Cap of 3.)
Trips up top gets you 17 cards btw.
Glad you enjoyed- will try to do another vid on this topic soon. Continuing on with a 16-card fantasyland is big and would definitely change my strategy. On tonybet, you go from 16 to 14 cards.
My concern with the greater variance in progressive (and a new game they were playing in Vegas called "chiplow") is the larger risk of getting negative free-rolled. Or if you're playing table stakes, you have to be super-vigilant if your opponents get short and go to FL.
Jen, which source/ website do you use for most accurate or updated lists of rules for each game? (i want to make sure I am scoring correctly)
also, in Progressive Fantasy, during Fantasyland you are dealt 14 cards for 'QQ', 15 for 'KK', and 16 for 'AA' or for 'AA or better' so no more cards for 222, 333, 444 etc?
In progressive and 2-7, the rules aren't as standardized as in pineapple, as it's played differently in various live and online games (see previous poster, who said that in his games, a 16-card FL gave a recurring 16-card FL as opposed to the games in this vid, where only the first trip to FL is a 16-carder)
Here are the rules for the tonybet games I'm playing in this video: https://tonybetpoker.com/rules/specific-game-rules/fantasyland
My last video was another live play video, but more typically I do theory/math vids. And I'm going to get back to that next time.
Here's a simple calculation. Let's say it's the last turn, you're in position heads-up and you have three live outs to qualify your hand (for instance, three aces with an ace in the middle, a made back and queens up top).
There are 27 unseen cards. Your odds of not getting the card in question on your first draw is 24/27 and on the 2nd draw it's 23/26 and then 22/25.
So (24/27)* (23/26) * (22/25) ~69 so the chances of not getting there are 69% and the chances of getting there are 31%.
I also have charts and have memorized a bunch of the most common calcs, so I don't have to redo the math every time. (because even once you have these %s memorized it's just a starting point for more math!)
There are some more complex math things involving probable discards (even in the example above, the aces are likely to be "superlive" so I'd fudge the number upwards slightly)
There are also "bad combos" or combos that doesn't work (i.e- you have 762 with all the cards completely live in the middle and you need two pair, but trips will foul you) I go over a bunch of those in my previous videos and my next vid will deal with some of those as well.
HI Jen, at 38:30 is the an argument for putting j9 37 A especially with 2 spades gone i feel more comfortable with that set. if 99 comes it sets it up beautiful, its pretty ugly if that happens on the j7 39 A especially as he as 8 8 10.
your videos are great I've learnt a lot from you, so thanks!!
I was just wondering if you know the value of all the different FL for progressive? I assume QQ would be slightly lower than in regular pineapple due to the increased average points acquired per hand in progressive. Mainly interested in the value of KK and AA.

Thank you and more Videos pls :)
