I like the level of detail you go into in these reviews - enough detail but concise at the same time!

If your opponent probes too much on the turn, would this affect your decision to check a hand like Q8 here and other weak showdown value hands?
14:00 - Unless I expect them to be over folding quite a lot to flop cBet I wouldn’t start betting a hand like Q8. Mostly because I dominate a decent part of the hands that I’d fold by cBetting. When it comes to other weak showdown value hands I’d definitely lean towards betting them OTF since we benefit much more from generating folds from holdings that beat / dominate me.

You mention here that recreational players tend to check here with too many weak hands; how extreme an adjustment would you make to your probing range/frequency?
Very extreme. In my experience, most recreationals just tend to bet the flop when they’ve got something and their checking range ends up being really weak so if I have that read I’d start probing a lot both for protection and as a bluff. Similarly, I’d expect to make less money on this node with my very strong hands so I’d start to bet smaller with them to encourage calls from their Ax region or to check and allow them to improve to a worse hand.
What's he difference between the 97ss turn overbet on A85dd Jhh and the Q2o psb on Q62dd 5hh, in the prior video, where we wanted to size down from overbet to psb (on double flush draw)?
These two spots are actually fairly different even if they look quite similar. When thinking about sizing we shouldn’t only take into account the fact that the board is double flush-draw.
The main difference in terms of choosing sizing in these spots comes from the equity of our top pair hands. While on A85 J they’re doing quite good since there are no 1 card straight draws, on Q62 5 OOP will improve to a tiny amount of 43s and a bunch of pairs will now become pair + straight draws. Therefore, our TP’s will go slightly down on equity and that will encourage us to size down just a little bit.
There are also other ‘’minor’’ differences between these two spots that come from the nut advantage of IP. On A85 J IP is doing much better in general just because of the disproportion towards nut combos in their favour (top 2 pair, sets) while on Q62 5 OOP is way more uncapped and doing better in general.
Hi, Nuno! Such a great series, superior content for HUNL discipline. Thanks a lot!

You made an assumption that recreational player won't have that many suited hands in his range. In my experience if we face more of a "average" (not maniac type) recreationals they tend to check-back PRE w way more suited hands comparing to GTO/Regular strategy.
I believe lack of aggression in every node PRE is a common thing for these type of players as long as they didn't show the opposite approach and my exploits will start from that. A'm i mistaken w this assumption?
Very good point, I agree with your assumption. I think that the combination of the board being monotone and 3 high cards made me feel like I was going to take it down extremely often because their range doesn't improve that much but recreationals will often certainly have more suited hands (and even sometimes more broadway hands) than they're supposed to in this node as you mentioned.

So you would expect their range to be too heavy in ace highs and airballs?
Exactly!

Nuno Alvarez Great response! I know you teach us, but who teaches you this stuff?
My friend PIOsolver and his little brother Range Explorer :P
Nuno Alvarez Range explorer is the best. You can formulate so many important heuristics through studying with this tool.
Thanks! That makes sense
