38 min you mentioned Linus either has 22 or a bluff like 63/53. Given the XC-X-OB by lama, wouldn't we want some type of 2x hands to bluff here? Maybe like 52s Q2s etc? I thought we would want to block some boats to bluff for this sizing.
You are totally right! I got a bit lost thinking that 2x would just bluffcatch but given that Linus chose a shove sizing he definitely needs to have a 2x blocker to bluff.
39:45 When linus uses a 2/3 river size you mentioned he should have k7+ here. Then you were surprised he had 2 pair in this line. 2 pair is worth a lot but you also block some of the bluff catchers from 2nd or 3rd pair hands. Any merit to using this 2/3 size when you have a hand like K5/K9? And then use larger size when you unblock top pair or 2nd pair?
Yes, good reasoning. Normally the way these spots work is by mirroring your 2p hands with your 1p ones for each of the lines, however everything is still quite mixed and your idea is a good one.
Really fun seeing so many showdowns, great to see a bit more info on the strategies they are using!
This is in fact a really cool hand to study in the solver! It was SRP and SeaLlama bet 110% on flop and turn with QoJs. You said that you didn't think it was a correct play, but the solver is betting 75% frequency on flop with QJ and pure betting turn. On the turn the QJ achieves a very effective merge by folding out a bunch of AX with low kickers (A6-), whilst being called by TXss, KXss, J9, QT, that it beats. Worth a look in the solver for sure, great play from SeaLlama.
Yeh it looks very odd at first glance for sure. I have seen plays like this before and never really understood them, but looking at the opponent's response it all makes sense. Is this something you are likely to implement in your game?
Yeah I've been implementing some of these plays for a few years now. In HUNL is very common to overbet turn in SRP IP with hands that fold out better but get called by worse for example. However, I didn't think this would apply in this particular hand given that Jx blocks a decent chunk of OOP folding range on the turn.
What do you think the reasoning is for picking a bigger sizing here? Do you think he is trying to find spots to use different sizings to what is standard in order to put his opponent in less-studied scenarios?
Good question. My guess is that he is bucketing some of these textures into the PSB strategy even though that's not optimal because he expects people to react somewhat poorly against that.
For this river I was expecting to see a healthy shoving range for IP here given that they can have the super-nuts and OOP can't. Is it not a worthwhile consideration because KQ is not that frequent in BTN's range?
As long as KQ arrives to the River with this line, there will be some jams for IP. However, the most likely sizing should be something smaller that allows IP to valuebet Qx and make indifferent the 7x and 2p hands for OOP.
Seems like an odd probe size here. Would have thought a middling size only, or a mix between a middling size and 2e would be a better option. What do you think?

Glad you enjoyed it Matt :)
Thanks a lot for the heads up here! It’s one of those very weird solver plays, I was certainly not expecting it here though.

For this board it was interesting to see the pot sized cbet. Do you think he is playing pot/check, or block/pot/check here?
Almost certain that Linus always plays a single sizing strategy OTF so I would say that he is playing pot/check only here.

I agree with you. I think given how dynamic the board is and how protected IP’s range should be here, a middling size only should be best.
Hey nice review Nuno, thanks for the vid :)
Thanks mx, glad you liked it!
