I'm curious as to why the correct check-raise sizing here is small? Given the polarity of the check-raising range (i.e. trips or better for value), I would have thought that the sizing would have been bigger. Is it because on paired boards the BTN will have plenty of trips to defend with, so the BB has to size down?
The reason why the check-raise sizing choice on paired boards is small is because this allows OOP to punish a lot of trash hands that IP is betting. The range that raises the flop is far from being a polarized range because of this reason and OOP is always on a nut disadvantage on paired boards just because of the nature of the preflop ranges, therefore a small sizing will always be the preferred sizing choice on those.
Thanks for including the screenshot! I ran the board with this small 28% XR sizing, and also with 50% and 85% XR sizes, and it is in fact the very small sizing that is highest EV for BB to use. It interesting because I thought this spot would play very polar. But vs the small XR sizing the BTN is forced to defend all sorts of weak hands, so there's plenty of value to get for BB's AX still.

This is interesting. I'm assuming 2 factors are at play here:
1. For higher board pairs, BB would have 3bet preflop with lots of the trip combos with higher kickers, so BTN has an advantage in trips with the highest kickers.
2. For lower board pairs, BTN has an advantage in trip combos due to being able to open weaker offsuit hands with lower cards that the BB is unable to defend with
Is that a correct summary? Is there anything I'm missing?
This is a good summary, yeah. The way I see it is that OOP is always in a nut disadvantage on these boards and therefore the best approach to those is to develop a small x/r strategy designed to target the air hands that IP is betting and also raise a bunch of thin value hands that are protected by our trips combinations.

Why did you opt to put in a range bet in your sim for this board in PIO? I ran the board with this cbet sizing and only got 57% cbet frequency from BTN.
The reason why I opted to put a range bet in this sim is because a huge % of the field just rangebets these textures for 1bb rather than play a mixed strategy as the solver suggests. Therefore, I think that we will get a more accurate output by using this sim than the optimal one.
I'm guessing that when you see the min bet instead of 25% or 33% pot cbet you assume that your opponent has sized down to min bet in order to cbet range?
At minute 17.00. You Cb fop and fold vs river bet with Q5. Isn't this a possible spot to jam allin? Villian should 3b some Q9s and you block with the Club his potential Q9 calls. So villian never has Q9 and you should have some Q9 in theory I think. Seems like you could jam this hand in theory for that reason.
At min 31 the AQo hand, again i have a question about a potential river raise . Bcause he has a lot of 3x in his range do have a raise bluff range on the river? And what cards would you use in that case. I personally would never dare to do it in this case i think..

Hey mat!

You can take a look at how OOP approaches this spot in this particular texture to get an idea of how ranges look like.

Exactly! Not always the case but in general this is how I see it.
