Another excellent review!

  1. What is your opinion on playing a3 hands from ep as an open in full ring games? From my study, it seems marginal unless it is super premium.

  2. As a follow up, if you play a3 hands a lot, will you call raises with them?

  3. 20:20 in a lot of spots where opponent checks back turn it seems to cap their range. How do you feel about also using a smaller river bet to induce a call from weak hands?

  4. If the river was an 8 instead givng us a weaker 2pr with the nl would you use a smaller bet?

  5. 28:10 do you generally flat raises with high only hands? Will you fold if you are in earlier position?

  6. Do you open raise high only hands from early position?

Thanks!

  1. What is your consideration of a full ring game? Cash or Tournament? These videos are primarily concentrated on 6 max tournaments, you'll definitely be opening A3xx in some capacity under the majority of circumstances but there are scenarios you won't - ICM situations, stack depth, bubbles, etc. If you mean cash games/9 max, etc, that's a topic for another time and not covered in this course due to the extent of variable change.

  2. It certainly depends on the nature of the A3xx, there are trashy A3's and there are premium A3's. Who 3 bet you? Are they aggressive or are they passive? What is your chip stack, what is theirs, what stage of the tournament are you in? There are simply too many variables to account for in this question. Best answer is sometimes yes, sometimes no much as the rest of poker.

  3. I assume we are referencing the A248 hand? I break down exactly why I believe a pot sized bet is proper as it derives value from hands that will call us which we scoop (live Ace with/without 2 pair combos), and hands that we 3 quarter (4x for a 6 high straight). By him capping his range it will include give ups where the bet size doesn't matter as he is never calling such as KKxx or all high cards, and by hands that will call us and are largely indifferent to the bet size.

  4. I don't understand your question.

  5. Please go back and watch the earlier videos, I go in depth on strategy of remaining balanced with one way hands whether that is high only hands or low only hands. Largely they are either flatted as they prefer to play multiway if there has been an opening raise, they will sometimes be raised depending on stacks, player tendencies, etc.

  6. See previous answer

From looking at your questions I definitely recommend going back and re-watching a lot of the videos as I believe I've already answered the majority of your questions and covered the subjects in depth. Hope this helps!

Yeah I'll definitely go back and review the other videos. I watch so many videos and study as many variants as I can that questions pop up in the moment as I'm watching that may have been covered in a video I watched a month ago or even longer. As such I may ask those questions again as I may have not remembered the concept.

With regard to #4, if we only had the nut low and a weaker 2 pair would you consider a smaller bet to target a wider range of calling hands?

Makes sense, lots of content out there, recommend watching only so many videos at once as it makes it difficult to ingest the content in any meaningful way if you're spreading yourself thin. Its far better to watch 10hrs of content in a meaningful way than 20-30 hrs and only retain 20% of the information. Food for thought.

  1. If we the river is a blank we would full pot as we have no discernable high showdown and are trying to capture the full pot with a large sizing. If the river instead is a 2 or 8 we know we have the low locked up, so it does become a question of how much value can we get from hands and what are those hands. If we large bet river it can look like a low only that is trying to steal half the pot, which is what we would in fact be doing with that specific hand, so in order to create balance this is our most likely avenue. If we instead went smaller or medium, then we are hoping to get called by... Nothing comes to mind that wouldn't call a large bet. He calls off with the majority of his A5 combos, calls with all high hands that beat us, AAxx no low? Would most likely fold as it unblocks 45 and loses to all 2 pair+ combos as well, not a great value proposition. We don't want to make it easier for high hands that beat us to call down, so I think in this position on any river card other than a 4 we full pot it. A 4 is a topic for another rant ;-)

Thanks Nathan. I don't get to play plo8 or big O a whole lot so my focus with it is to just try and maintain a decent understanding of it in case a cash game pops up. My goal for the next 5 months is more focused on nlh and the 8 game rotation as I prep for the wsop.
