great video, at 3:35 what do u think about calling weaker Jx and folding JT, J9 since it may be the case that he is checking back turn with some hands like Q9, T9, blocking your XF hands on the turn, so he will be bluffing these hands OTR? Correct me if i am wrong about turn barreling frequencies...
at 10:49, what are the factors you are considering for delay CR on A75s6s if you are in opponent's shoes?
3:35 - That's an interesting question regarding his bluff range, but it is my general assumption that players like him will bluff from the bottom of his overall range on rivers. I think Q9 or even T9 would look too strong to bluff this spot, even if he does get to the river situation with those hands.
10:49 - Generally speaking, I'm interested in how button approaches "obvious" capped situations like this one on the turn. Some guys will check very strong twice here, which means I'll generally attack with overbets when I'm looking to build a pot. Other guys will use small bets and use sufficient frequency, which will require a more balanced counter attack from OOP. Some great river x/r hands will have the Kh (both for value and bluffing allin sizes), while some good turn x/r hands might be the low sets, not only because they are very high in equity but also because of their blocking effect on calling hands (vs turn probe) without removing Ax (a likely bet/call hand). I mostly choose turn x/r bluffs that are on the low end of my x/c range, and ideally have some kind of blocking effect on strong bluffcatchers (perhaps 63s, for example).
Hey Kevin you beast! how are you man? amazing work as always! Question min @8:49 the right table JTs hand, i feel like in this spot we are not bluffing enough by the river to justify the big sizing shove. What hands do you think we should be bluffing here with? maybe some A8, A9 with the Ace of heart? but i feel like we check those in the turn so maybe AT with the Ace of hearts? . I mean i feel like we don't bluff enough here mainly because this texture connect really well with our opponent flatting range vs our 3bet. Thank you in advance and looking forward to see more videos
Thanks bud, doing great thanks. You could probably tell from my tone in the video that I was primarily concerned with what villain likely calls and what my hand wants to do. This is basically the way I'll operate against any definite recreational player, so my bluff range being accurate wasn't even crossing my mind. I do think it's a solid spot to follow through once I get here, so if I had AhT-AhQ i'd be unlikely to check the river. Obviously KhJ/KhQ could have bluffed on different rivers as well.
That said...also noteworthy that my value range is pretty damn tight here. 56s is probably the weakest hand I jam for value so I don't need a lot of bluffs (in theory)
Hey Kevin
4:43 69s how light are you calling the turn here? Would you call any pair with a fd and any Ax? otr how much 6x would you be calling there?
6:35 A8s how thin should villain be value betting river here? Any 2pair?
7:45 KK how light should we be calling river here? If he bets turn how light should we call,7x or better?
14:40 K9 on AA3 would you be calling QT and JT here too without a backdoor flush?
19:15 J9 why did you say that 9x would be a nice hand for him to have to call with?
thanks :)
Sorry I didn't get to these before, the notifications must have gotten buried after a new video came out.
4:43 - Depends on his sizing, of course. On a 3rd heart I'm often prioritizing good draws over hands like this one, and unless he sizes down I'm probably folding this part of my range.
6:35 - Given his flop sizing we would probably want to lead ourselves with decent 2pr+ that didn't remove weak pairs, and perhaps check the occasional straight that removes weak pairs (79 for example). Against that check range he should be able to vbet 2pr+ yeah.
7:45 - Against most standard sizes, we likely aren't allowed to fold pairs to a single bet. When he starts using overbet sizings on club rivers we are obviously able to fold some poor bluffcatchers though. It's hard to be more specific without knowing the size in each spot.
14:40 - I believe JT is too weak, it's going to start overlapping with some bluffs that are stronger than my hand. QJ seems safe to call and QT appears close. Don't forget that we also have 22-99 and lots of Ax combos.
19:15 - 9x looks like the part of his bluff catching range that's most likely to play this way and be forced to call vs my sizing.
hi kevin, noob at them HU's here. What i found really different than mtts are sizings. For example at 38min with 53s, i would just bet something like 1/3 pot cause i think i would take the same sizing with my Tx and would still make him fold his 89,J9 etc bluffs
I suspect you're a bit too concerned with the exploitative benefits to your bluffing range when you pick small sizes. I'm mostly looking to maximize value here when I have the range that wants to shove for value (something like KT or AT+) and there aren't enough hands in my range that would benefit from a small sizing for value.
hi kevin, reviewing my notes again, i noticed a hand on the left tale on 26th minute that i didn't get. (with the Q4o). I don't exactly understand why we call the river with our bottom pair. maybe because he will have enough bluffs with one club cards that we have the right odds?
I do think he'll be able to bluff here with 1 club hands, so I'm trying to defend at least the MDF. I think some Ax will value bet (mostly Ax+club) and other Ax will x/c, but my range is still probably 75-80% Jx- when I check to him. I'll call any Jx, some hands like this, ideally being able to fold some lower quality bluffcatchers like 55 and my Kx.
Keep in mind Kx is almost certainly not supposed to bluff lead, given that I'm showing up here with Q4 and just happen to spike a pair.

Also 43:46 with 9Ts how much Kx are we calling otr?
If I had Kx on river I'd definitely call
