Uhm... What the hell are you reviewing this AJ hand for, this is not even close to being elite worthy this isn't even an advanced hand lol. Anyone who needs you to go over this hand should instantly drop down to essential membership....
I get you want to emphasize its important to play around with the ranges to see how it can affect our profitability but cmon man who the hell buys HRC and isn't smart enough to play around with the ranges.
IMO run advanced hands with ICM implecatitions, play around wiht open sizes and see how it can affect our range.
I think the discussion was good, although it would have been better to realise that you were in the HJ Luc, rather than focusing on the CO ranges the whole time.
I think this model would not be as interesting as you'd expect, more importantly the model would be far less accurate. Part of the reason why modeling shove ranges is easier is because it puts fixed constraints on the hand. If i were to deal with a minraise, it would not adequately model calling, which is certainly an option for the SB and BB, but also is a reasonable option with certain hands from every other player.
I think by analyzing shoving ranges you can see how much each hand makes as a shove, and structure your range accordingly, shoving the middle, raise flding some of the bottom, and raise calling the top.
Just because a spot is simple doesn't mean its not worth going over, I chose this hand because in game I was uncertain about the correct play so I marked it, maybe I'm being results oriented but I also asked this hand to a few HS regs and they had different opinions on whether to call or fld AJ here, specifically because many ppl int he field are not shoving nash.
Jamo's comment is onpoint and I apologize for that fortunately our calling range in the HJ is almost the same as our calling range in the CO, however this is clear error and I apologize for my sloppiness.
its interesting hand and worth going through it. it can show us when HRC is less accurate or drastically drops the ev of certain hands and for me personally as new mtt player its quite good spot to learn. obv me and probably many of us already playing with the ranges in HRC but still valuable to see Lucas going through it and tells us his thoughts since I dont think every member is aware of that.
I think its important to go over mistakes, often times people can learn a lot from seeing what not to do. I have a made a ton of videos for RIO and this is basically the only one on this subject, and it has received mostly positive feedback.
I respect your criticism, however my advice would be to move on and check out some other videos. Not every video is gonna be useful for everyone, and there are some people who found the video useful, and I don't want to discourage discussion from them.
As for the 44 hand, I think its moderately interesting I have the 3rd nuts in a 3bet pot with less than 2x pot to play and argue that folding to a raise is correct, because villain's range consists of mostly better hands than the third nuts. I think it is worth discussion, I often mention in videos considering exploitable plays, this is an example of one of those spots.
seems like this guy has made over 500kilo
why so rude man ? If you dont wanna watch this then backoff and go somewhere else. Rio offers alot of videos.
Its very importent to me when a Coach shows his mistakes and share his thoughts with us. We always can only improve if we also go through the "standard spots" and rethink the situations again. Me personally I think we can improve our game alot if we dont see any spot as standard.
for example this video got me thinking about many other spots which I used to just see it as a standard HRC spot where in practice you can/should adapt ranges abit with certain hands because of the way average people shove/call range are etc.
I think it is very important to show mistakes or bad play as a training material, it is even more important than showing over and over HH review where you only VPIP'd and obviously ran good. As an elite and also pay 100$, I'm waiting for real training stuff and I think it is way better to have vids like this than showing over and over final table review, Live sweat when you can't follow anything, word like "standard" here and here. this is passive learning, passive watching like a TV show.
As an example, in this vids, the AJ force me to play with my calculator and look at different assumption. there are hundred and hundred spot like this where I think we lose money because we think it is obvious when in fact this is not as clear as it looks like.
Sometimes I think Elite MTT have to make a little more effort to propose "training vids" and I think Lucas is making this effort and propose good concept/hands rather than a bunch of HH review, final tables where only hands played. Make us thinking rather than watching that you won your "standard" spot.
I'm surprised that essential content MTT have a lot more original/concept training stuff than elite. and I appreciate Lucas is doing this kind of stuff so keep continue!
some ideas: stack leverage concept; maybe multipart serie on postflop play concept/examples; I would prefer to see 100 hands where you could 3b/fold from a short stack and explain why you did it or not, or double barrel, or delay cb and have detail explanation rather than 100 hands of the same tourney just VPIPed
Thanks for the comments Arnaud, I will be quite busy over the next month with monte carlo and scoop coming up, but I appreciate the suggestions, and I'll see what I can do.
Strug,
While this forum encourages discussion, and disagreement suggesting that I made this video to make money off the site and screw over the members with trash is way over the line. This video took the same amount of time and effort as almost all my other videos, so if this video is cheating the site and it's members I'm certainly not seeing the benefits. You are free to your opinion but please use a more civil tone in the future.
min3: Would you prefer folding A3-A7s as the Mp1 instead of openraise/f?
I dont think as 12bb stack we should or want to have a widish openr/fold with many player behind I d prefer to just muck it instead. But can we really afford to give up edge by folding even its little til breakevenish edges ?
I see myself often just mucking A2s-A7s in this situation but def shoving K9s,Q9s,J9s,T9s,98s,KJo, 44
You will see some player shoving even wider then A2s but many with the ranges you put in imo.
The AA hand is imo just a bet OTT.
If you check the turn I think we certainly have to fold the OTR because he just cant have bluffs and you block AQ and I am not sure if ppl get so crazy w AQ here w100%freq
This is like you said given the position very nitty spot. Also many of his to hands bet the turn for free showdown so he is pretty polarized and since he just cant have bluffs besides AQ, which you block and maaaybe turning some pps into bluff, I d prefer as played x/f.
But I think the key point is you are missing alot of ev by checking the turn, since OP is probably not going to bet KQ,AK,AJ twice after you checking to him...
If you bet the turn good things can happen people are not that good like in cashgame for much deeper stacks, they just going to call you off with KQ even sometimes crazy calls like AJ (cause they think they block AA,AK etc.)

Absolutely love this video format Lucas, thank you for doing this and breaking down hands so thoroughly. More of this please.
Lucas,
This video is fantastic! Please do more of these, as I'm sure many people , me including, are doing similar mistakes all the time!
