hi jonas, I've watched a few of your videos and am amazed at your though process as you analyse hands. I read in previous video, you haven't read Matthew Janda's Applications of NLH book, but from what I gather the topics you discuss (like blockers, defending ranges etc) are very similar. Can you please expand on how you've managed to obtain such a high level of skill in this area, and any tips/pointers to how to get to this level? many thanks, and keep up the good work!

Cheers mate.

Basically I've been just discussing hands/theory with just about anyone I thought it was worth discussing with. You kinda just pick up all that stuff along the way at some point. It's really not some sort of "specialty" of Janda's.

Great video! Elite content imo

66 hand - I feel on this texture our c/r is perceived as weak as we have very little value combos. If I think villain is defending the c/r wide, I should be playing exploitably with a c/r weighted towards value. Or is it still better to c/r 1:2 ratio (value:bluffs) as you suggested on the video?

Also, could you elaborate on why you discard AXdd as c/r candidates?

Appreciate it! And sorry for the late reply, been out of town for quite some time.

Re the 66 hand - well, we've got all possible set combos so just like on most board textures that's a pretty wide enough value range. But yeh, obviously if you feel like villain is calling too wide then the correct adjustment is not to bluff. Though you should note that in the vid I name combo draw hands OTF as value hands so I'd def. still continue c/raising them.

Regarding Axdd hands - I don't think those hands are strong enough (well except the 2overcards+bdfd/gutter+bdfd combos) to play at all. Their equity isn't great, Ace outs aren't clean, kicker outs are veeeeery rarely clean outs and we're already defending OTF a lot so no need to stretch this wide everything. Overall defending all those hands like 66 A6dd are going to be really marginal on the flop so I do want to fold some weaker parts of those hands that I feel are super marginal. Lastly (probably least important) we don't really lack any board coverage so we def. don't have an argument to defend those hands as well.

I'd also like to hear your reasons for the 1:2 ratio (value:bluffs). Not just in this particular situation, but in general. Why would you ever want to bluff that much?

Well, math is my weakest side of the game by far so really I can't give you a reasonable explanation. It's just something I heard from several players I discuss strat with while not hearing any other opinions. It's a pretty general thing and it of course depends on some variables but this board isn't really any special - it doesn't favor any player by much - so I'm just using that.

Overall it's a thing that nobody is 100% sure of. Iirc Janda had written a lot about this in his books but I've never read it personally, again, just been told about that.

hi there. you mentioned that in your X/R range you needed about twice as many combinations of semibluffs to value hands. Can you briefly explain how to calculate the correct number based on the size of your checkraise?

Or are we aiming to balance out our overall equity (of bluffs and value) to equal the pot odds we are offering villain? (I get confused on keeping numbers of hand combinations in check when there are more cards to come!)

(Really enjoying the vids btw)
