Very nice video. I think the jam with 88 is questionable, seems more of a call in my eyes and Im not so sure about the turn 1/3 pot bet with 66. Seems good with that particular hand, but Tx wants more value and Draws/floats probably want more Foldequity.
I think a call with 88 is fine but the fact that i hardly have any perceived bluffs a jam might be better.
The 66 hand; I like betting a size that does well for my range. I have quite a bit of medium pocket pairs that want some protection and a tiny bit of value. Those i can bet 1 street and check back the river.
With Tx hands we want value from some of his overpairs and A high hands. If i bet twice for a large sizing i think i fold out most of his range and lose some value against the hands that might call a smaller sizing ott and a somewhat larger sizing otr.
My floats often are A high hands that have enough SD value. And with my other floats i can still bet the turn to make him fold his better air hands(K high hands and perhaps A high hands) and decide if i want to bluff the river with them.
In the last hand, you said that given his CBet stat you didn't expect him to CBet with AK.but he did CBet with AJ. Seeing this, wouldn't you expect him to CBet with AK too? On the other hand, I wonder why his CBet stat isn't higher if he is c-betting AJo there (as you said, perhaps because he checks his over pairs?)
EluSiVeMark10 years, 6 months agoAJ has less sd value than AK. So i think he treats those two hands differently. And i do think he mixes it up with his overpairs by cbetting, x/raising and x/calling them with some frequencies.
If i had a hand without some extra equity (let's say 99 on this board) i am more inclined to fold the turn.
Interesting spots, great video thanks Mark! Do you find players often x/r when you do the small 1/3 pot size bet turn after calling flop (you have under pairs in this spot a cpl of times in the vid) ? Obviously they need to defend against this with a decent frequency, but x/raising they generally aren't repping a whole a lot unless they adjust and have enough value hands in there, do you think that's what Muladkhara has done (he has JJ on T55 T)? Also you mention you would be balanced in this spot but it doesn't seem so since on T55 T you would have too few value hands if as you say you would bet flush draws and smaller pairs. Well, unless you consider the smaller pairs value if Ax is calling I guess... does Ax ever call there?
I think they have a higher frequency of x/raising when I bet the 1/3 pot sizing. I use this sizing when i want to have a somewhat depolarized range, meaning having hands in my range that want protection balanced with stronger hands. I still have all the suited T9+ in my range which are quite a bit of combos.
I think his x/r is ok in a vacuum, but when i readjust and he doesn't it will make his play a lot worse.
And yeah i expect people to call with Ax quite often. Also folding out his 98,QJ,QK etc with the smaller sizing is a win aswell.
