Hey Mark nice video, i think there's great value in it. Would definitely love to see more hand selection stuff on turn play like other board texteture and so on.
I very much appreciate you using black background and white font! Much easier on my eyes.
Video is a follow up to Qing Yang recent video on cbetting paired boards. Nice to see turn strategy to go with it. The high frequency cbet and low frequency barrel reminded me of his video.
1) 24min why are weaker QX checking turn? Said something about middling pairs getting value from mid pairs and blocking oop continue range? Wouldn't trip Qs get a lot of value from that range?
34min K722 I know we get to the turn with a wide range and not a lot of 2x in either players range, but shocking to see such a low betting frequency there. This is a card I am barreling a lot because a lot of 7x and middling pairs have to fold or back door draws just bricked. I think as an exploit can barrel here really aggressively and just give up on the river. Really shocked to see so many checks here. I can see checking back a lot of weaker KX but still want to bet a lot of my air here to get oop air to fold.
35:30 I am also playing Q755 very incorrectly! I know QJ-Q9 need some protection but usually I am trying to polarize turns so betting a lot of my stronger AQ KQ hands and checking back weaker QX. I might have to watch this video again. My strategy seems backwards!
1) i think OOP still has a decent amount of Qx and his midpairs will often fold vs 2 big barrels. Whereas the stronger Qx just crushes his range. It probably also raises river if turn goes x/x and we face a blockbet otr.
2) If u think your exploits are higher EV then go for it. If u face an unknown and u know the strategy better than your opponent then u will gain quite a bit of EV as well!
3) Q755: OOP range still has a high number of A and K high type hands. Hands that don't bluff often OTR (so making equity fold that rarely bluffs is very important). QJ, QT can still get a decent amount of value ott and need more protection than KQ, AQ. Also when u both river a K or A with AQ,KQ than u make an extra bet or raise.
Blockquote It probably also raises river if turn goes x/x and we face a blockbet otr.
This makes sense, didn't consider river raise. With the AQ KQ on Q755 if we face a block also raising the river? I probably need to raise wider on the river and not so much flop and turn. I often front load aggression.
Yes i might look into river spots as well. But i am always a bit hesitant to do that because PIO it's ranges that come to the river often are very different than humans.
Great content as always Mark! Would love to see more videos like this in other frequent spots such as: LJ v BB, SB 3bet vs BTN, LJ vs BTN Call, etc. I also liked the black background with the white font (easy on the eyes). Thanks!
I've tested K72o 7o spot. Not allowing IP to trap (few 7x I let IP check though), still on the river OOP doesnt go massive pretty much ever, not using shoves or 300% size (using 300% but only on few turn cards and very infrequently)
It might affect line - block river bet/raise/shove but it is too irrelevant for study puprose
Because we get to the turn with close to our whole range whereas the OOP player has folded his weakest hands.
Therefore he has the equity advantage and IP simply cannot bet too often.
Since IP still has the nutadvantage he is going to bet a polar range for a big sizing.
On "wet turns" OOP usually increases his nutted hands compared to IP. So IP starts betting smaller and a bit more for protection with a more liniair range.
Overall i would think most money still goes in on blank turns because of the bigger sizing whereas frequency slightly decreases.

Well structured vid, thanks Mark! Would be great to see similar vid for 3bet pots. Then maybe also extended this to river.
Thanks!

Really love this style of video from you.

Why do we x more on the more blank turns, and bet more on the non blank turns? Is it because of protection?

Thank you!
Excellent, very thorough video. Especially good at a time when i have been struggling with turn barrels. Thank you.
An incredibly valuable video to have in the RIO library EluSiVeMark I'm sure people will get back to this video for a long time!
I love these videos! Thanks for making them!
