Luke Johnson aka Clanty clicks the record button while shot-taking two short handed $25/$50 tables and fills up the screen with $10/$20 tables to provide for enough action.

Hi Luke,
great video as always, thanks for the content. Seeing Pass defend 92o BvB @14.35, have you considered changing up your SB OR strategy at least when Antes are involved (at least vs regs)? I suppose you employ this strat because people havily underdefend by 3betting, but still, if they continue 100% vs your opens and 3b somewhat close to the right frequency, it should make your life hell.

15:10 You state that this is not a great board for your iso range, but it actually should be imo. You are iso-ing a ton of offsuit garbage that will have made a pair or pair+ and the value part of your iso-range has a GS for the most part or is an overpair, whereas villain has no 2pairs at all and not all of the straights. Q8 no BD is prolly still a close to pure check though...

No problem :)

Honestly, I've not put much thought/effort into ante formats, as they do not run too often. At first glance, I like the idea of keeping my RFI small, as I win more if villains do not correctly adjust by defending junk like 92o. My life is not hell if they defend 100%. In fact, I'd say it is quite the opposite when you really think about it. And being a HU player, I believe I am at my best when ranges are at their widest :)

Naturally, this is heavily dependant on your iso range. For my sim, I have BB only cbetting 20% of the time for 2/3p.

545 QJh I think close to pure check on the flop without the bdsd? Where QTs Q9s starts to bet more often. Also a board where I think SB vs BTN does a lot of checking 763r?

3 handed opening btn min and HU 2.5 is this due to facing more 3 bets?

21:00 T#2 54c 3bet SB vs LJ? Thought these SCs were a pure fold but looks like 10-15% 3bet frequency?

When shot taking do you ever try and avoid some of these lower frequency plays? I would play more small ball due to shot taking with the 5-10 buy-in shot. Congrats on being able to shot take though. Many of us are still dreaming of shot taking 500z. You seem to move up rather quickly.

Correct everywhere

On these low textures with a very linear range, we effectively choose to "go big or go home"

3 handed opening btn min and HU 2.5 is this due to facing more 3 bets?

There's more to it; HU and Ring are different formats

21:00 T#2 54c 3bet SB vs LJ? Thought these SCs were a pure fold but looks like 10-15% 3bet frequency?

You can use them more in lower rake structures

No, I stick to playing my game.

Congrats on being able to shot take though. Many of us are still dreaming of shot taking 500z. You seem to move up rather quickly.

Thank you. Although I've been playing 1k since 2019, so it hasn't been fast as of late. I've recently busted my 3rd 5k shot. And it takes awhile to rebuild at lower. :(

31:40 T#4 KJo on A42r 3BP btn vs BB seems really out of line. Are you trying to deny equity to all the SCs and other suited broadways that 3bet preflop? 33, 55, 65s, 54s, A3s, A5s, AQ\AJ make some sense to raise, usually I won't raise this board at all though. Curious about the thought process on this hand and also I hope you PIO more of your big pots from this series. Happy part 2 and 3 go better for you.

It's cuspy! I was raise/folding this in game, but after studying it turns out that calling is also ok (R/C/F all 0ev).

I hope you PIO more of your big pots from this series. Happy part 2 and 3 go better for you.

I'm looking forward to doing a new style of video, which I hope viewers will enjoy. It will serve as a wrapup to this series. :)

Thank you for the great content. A lot of inspiration, as always.

In you work with the sim, I think you overlooked the fact that KK-99 all mixes calls against you river jam. Especially the combinations of queens that block QJs mounts to a significant number of combos.

Thank you! Jakob Tøstesen Really happy to hear you get some form of inspiration from watching. :)

Great point! I did not consider SB having to vpip so much vs the jam w/ these types of hands.

Extra points of respect for extra courage of recording while shot taking.

Your efforts are appreciated, Mr. Johnson.

Luke Johnson 3 years, 5 months ago

sandr1x Haha, well thank you, but there's no courage on my end; I enjoy making videos, and I figured viewers will enjoy the rare live rail of 5k games on Stars! I hope to produce more of them in the future :)

Great video. Thanks for taking us along on your shot taking. Do you drop the number of tables you are playing when you shot take?

17:50 bottom right on the 8d if we had a non flush hand we want to get value with such as 2pr+ and of course bluffs, what size should we be going with? I would think 50-66%.

25:30 top right AThs turn delay cbet, I am suprised we don't chk back here more with some sdv and a decent draw. Sb rng is pretty capped given he flatted pre though I suppose we get some value/protection but it seems thin.

26:08 btm left a2dd, seems like a high freq chk spot on flop.

Thanks.

No, but that's mainly due to not playing many tables anyway.

On turn? I'd go with b70. 50% is a little small, as we're quite polarised when cbetting

It's a function of having a very strong draw, and not having that much SDV when vs SB. I'd be more inclined to xb vs BB

26:08 btm left a2dd, seems like a high freq chk spot on flop.

Not in my sims :O

Thanks.

Also enjoyed the shot taking journey, thanks. I also have a related question - do you set aside a small number of buy ins for shot taking, and then hope to survive and continue playing that stake indefinitely if you don't lose those buy ins?

What is the average number of tables you play? What would be the maximum number of tables you would consider playing?

Exactly that, yes

ZOOM 6max: 2
HU: 2
Reg tables: 4
