Hey just saw this that's weird probably a mistake. I assume the KJ hand isn't in the video at all? Assuming that's the case I'll post it or save it for another video.
We appreciated you giving us a heads up on that. We re-uploaded a new video today fixing this. Thanks!
Getready2rokk11 years, 7 months ago1st hand AA: You say you dont think his line is not too bad but could you view this a bit more from his perspective ? On the flop the c/r i kinda get with 2 overs + gutshot, unfortunately no BDFD, i would have liked it more if it was T9dd. But then the board pairs which sucks for him, cause it reduces his value combos as weve seen, and its a save card for your PP's. Then on the river, he reps so narrow and you are so likely to have TT+ in this spot. I dont see how hes going to get enough folds with this.
3th hand AQ hand: You c/r AQTs flop in 3bpot oop, then check turn on 9o. Why did you check this turn ?
AhJc hand @29min on 6hJh4h 7dQd I understand that you can make this bluff as long as you have the value hands to back it up with. But now that we have seen hero call topset here. What will hero really bet fold when check to ? and will that be enough to have these bluffs here ? Since he calls Top set, he calls all flushes i assume.QJs is a hand that might fold but thats only 1 combo. KJs checks behind i assume ? Would he bet/fold 66,44 ? but those might also raise earlier in the hand maybe ? What other hands will he bet/fold river with ?
I dont mind the bluff at all, think its good w Ah blocker. Im just saying when we see him call QQ here, should we adjust our play and not make this bluff anymore in the future because of this ?
Hand 1: I think his whole line is quite thin but its a good hand to pick to be bluffing with. OTR its a bad bluff spot but he should still continue with his air some % of the time OTR. He should certainly consider checking his bluffs often but he can still shove them 1/3 of the time or so. If you never bluff when you get bad run outs it means that I have an easy river fold with most of my range,
Hand 2: I didn't c/r flop if I c/r flop I would bomb turn, since I check called I can't lead turn because I will be checking pretty much my whole range.
Hand 3: Of course you're right, its not a good bluff if I get called too often, and vs this villain its likely a losing play. That said in game you need to make decisions and you don't always get it right. I also think its more likely he calls QQ OTR because his hand improved, I know this logic is kinda strange but I think when people improve their hand OTT or OTR they are less likely to lay it down even though it may have the same relative value as a hand like 44/66. I also thought he could vbet something like AxQh or KxQh which I didn't include in his range but probably belong there.
General question regarding squeezing AK from the blinds. If you're in a live setting and you're confident an oop squeeze will get called by everyone, is it -EV to squeeze? Online players are better and your squeeze will narrow the field the majority of the time but live is obviously a different animal. We can either play AK oop in a small pot with a hand that is under repped and poor multiway, or we can play oop in a large pot with a hand that can easily be placed in our range by our opponents. Just thinking through this as I'm watching you squeeze AK in your 2nd hand and thinking about how different it plays live. I squeeze in this spot 95% but sometimes have reservations when at a super crazy, call heavy table. Thoughts?
At a call heavy table squeezing AK is even more +ev, of course you will lose the pot more often because its multiway, but having the best pf equity in a 4 or 5 way pot where you have a psb or two psbs behind is a pretty great situation.
about that hand, kinda surprised you removed almost all the suited connectors from the btn range, dont you think btn is getting the right odds pre to play hands like 89 910 10js?
The one I use the pro version, I believe, I basically went to their website and ordered the full version, I'm honestly not sure of the difference between them.
Good vid Lucas. In the JJ vs A4 hand are you playing this hand differently if stacks are 200bb+ deep. I struggle with some of these lines when playing deep live games since I'm always trying to get more money in and take some of the vacuum plays vs range plays. Thoughts?
I would probably play it the same with deep stacks, although I would check raise river, instead of check calling, I still think the pf 3bet is the best play, we are ahead of his range by a large margin, and want to either make him fold hands with equity pf, or call with a worse hand. Of course if he 4bets I would call, although would consider folding vs some. Keep in mind deep there aren't a lot of situations were we are going to want to play a big pot with one pair of jacks, so the 3bet is mainly to protect our equity and get value out of his opening range. There are a lot of board textures were we will need to fold our JJ postflop, but the 3bet is still going to be immediately profitable
really great video! I love seeing these postflop analysis, keep up the good work! :)
I have one important note on the AhJc hand from ~ min 26, though.
In PPT, if u want to know all of your (for example) AQ combos with ONE heart, u have to write it "AhQx", instead of just "AhQ". When u´ve typed "AhQ" into PPT, it gave u 4 hand combinations, when there actually can only be 3 combos of AQ with ONE heart. "AhQ" includes AhQh; "AhQx" only counts all offsuit AQ with the Ah.
So in that hand, your one-heart AX river bluff combos are only 12 instead of 15 combos, so u could be making this bluff almost 40% instead of 33% of the time.
It is an old video but I am still going to make a comment on the Ks8s hand.
I feel like there is more value in shoving the river. All of his AdXd hands, that we are hoping that he bluffs when we check, are blocking a lot of our bluff range. This, I would think, means he is less likely to be bluffing them. That leaves some combinations of missed heart draws that got to the river and hands he is shoving for value. Hands that might have called a shove (KJ, K10, and the less likely QJ) will often just check back.
So I think we will get more value if we shove the river, instead of checking to induce a bluff.
Five Years Later , i am a tad late for the party . A Big Thank you Lucas for this good session. You helped me a lot to learn to use better my Pokercruncher software getting a better read on opponent range excluding hands as we go deeper in the hand . Great tools to get a better idea of our equity vs villain and decide if it is worth it bluffing or not.

What happened to hand 5 at around 30mins? You start to input ranges and then it jumps to hand 6.

Very nice video. Btw, Phil just couple days ago made similar video with couple hands that he played at nosebleeds recently. Similar detailed analysis.
Quick question. IS that the the Pro version of odds oracle that you are using? Which one would you recommend to get?

Great vid, in the AJ hand you said your value combos on the river are flushes but what happened to all your sets?
Great vid Lucas! thanks.
Great video, Lucas! Just what I've been looking to brush up on after a few years away from playing.
I think in the Last Hand you forgot to include your Hand to Dead cards, which would lead to an even more viable riverbluff.
That wiver was a skawie card. Just signed up and this essential pro package is whack.
