Very interesting final table with a lot of top players. Waiting for the next part. Just 1 question: you did not say much about pokerkluka vs imluckbox JTo<88 big hand, do you like Imluckbox calling down all streets with 88 according to ICM? They probably played vs each other a lot but still, we are risking our tournament life at the final table with big pay jumps for every place with 88, do you think it's still good to call with ICM factor?

Sorry for the late replies, I think if Kluka shows up with JTo its clearly a good call down because he's over bluffing. In equilibrium I would guess its close but it still mostly calls down especially on such a clean run out. I wouldn't be surprised if 88 also mixes in some flop/turn raises.

thanks for the video!
last hand, can you explain why you like the small river raise rather than shove?
it seems to me, that most of imluckbox's valuerange for this line is one pair, so every valuehand in pokerkluka's range is strong enough to shove, and it's also not very difficult to find bluffs

Can you tell what hands are going to c/raise bluff the river? I think even most nines are just going to call/fold.

hariadam 5 years, 5 months ago

i think when IP's valuerange for betting the river is mainly one pair (same with the bluffcatching range vs river x/r), you cant really find many specific combos for x/r bluffing that would be way higher ev bluffs than other combos, so basically you just end up bluffing with every pair (that's a ~0ev bluffcather) with very low freqency

I think you are right, there's not really a big difference and K9 is strong enough to shove. I don't know what Kluka's plan was if he got shoved on getting 8:1 or w/e but I suppose he'd mix and mostly call it off. I think avoiding those kind of river spots is a good argument to shove, but I'd add stack to pot OTR is big enough that I think the non AI sizing is fine with a lot of hands in his range, perhaps kluka was also leaving the door open for luckbox to bluff jam the river, even if it only happens a very small frequency.

I'd add that Kluka could turn a 2 o4 34/45 into an bluff otr, I don't think he ever bluffs a pair otr so those hands make sense,

Hey,
sorry for taking so long to respond, I think AI Is also fine, imluckbox should have a few slowplays but not many, I think the main advantage to not gong AI is when you are bluffing you leave some money back and are still in the tournament. His hand is strong enough to shove and shove is also fine.

I'd also add that I think kluka can bluff with 2x and 45/34 and that should be sufficient of course those hands can also call and beat all bluffs but x/r is certainly fine with them as well. A good case for jamming range though is we can potentially end up x/r folding bottom pair and maybe get 4bet bluffed off the best hand, although that would be a pretty wild bluff and only something I'd fear from a small subset of opponents.

Hello Lucas

I got to say I am very happy to see this final table review review because I already watched the replay and I was quite surprised by players's plays

1:10 BVB around 90 bb effective BB raising QJo vs limp , so chip EV there are some mixing but what are your thoughts considering the ICM? Seeing the chip situation ( 2 stacks of less than 30bb) I thought QJo would massively tend to checkback

Lucas Greenwood 5 years, 4 months ago

I agree, I believe I mentioned in the video QJ should do a lot of checking there. I think the population in general still plays too linear in these spots and over raises a lot of the QJo type hands.

About minute 3, AJs vs. AQ, you mention that the player with AQ in the SB could just shove preflop. I don't think you can shove for 90xBB with the BB having you covered!

About minute 8, AQ limps and calls a raise from AA. I don't mind limping some hands, but AQ seems a strange choice. Is the idea that you don't want to face a 3-bet if you open?

In that same hand AQ turns the nuts and c/cs. Shouldn't think be a c/r or maybe a lead. I don't like playing it slow with 2 2-flushes on the board?

Lucas Greenwood 5 years, 4 months ago
  1. Yes you are right AQ should not shove there oops.

  2. I dont like the limp. I really only bust out limps when Im 15-20bb and BU or CO I think this deep its a bad play and a bad hand to pick but maybe these guys know better than me.

  3. I agree finding a way to get more money in with the nuts is generally a good strategy. I get why he is slowplaying but I agree with you that raising seems like a better play especially on such a wet board.

great vid. @38:30 you mention liking a 3b pre from Igor with TT here vs CL off 34bb. you prefer 3b/calling it to just shoving?

Lucas Greenwood 5 years, 4 months ago

I think I would 3b call it feels close but I think giving ourself the option to fold if 2 people end up AI behind us is worth a lot. I think call is fine also but Imluckbox had been opening so wide that I'd rather just 3bet call.

It still feels kinda of close Igor had 33bb had 30bb Id jam at 40 Id call this in between stack is a tricky spot and I think all 3 are quite close.
