Laurence,
The last hand you reviewed where you have Ks4sQc9c on board of 9hJs8s turn Kc and river Jh, you briefly mention the possibility of check raising, I would have thought a check raise would be more effective. Curious what hands you would go for check raise with for value as well as bluffs, and if you would lead here more because you think villain checks back too often to go for check raise? Might win more if villain will bluff river or value bet fold. Interested in your opinion.
So the reason i opted to lead here in game was more based on my preflop / turn calling range, as i mentioned if i called out of the BB I would more likely x/r this hand purely because my range would want to check significantly more (trying to upload screenshots from monker in a second).
You also want to think about what hands you are trying to fold out with lead or x/r. With a lead we already should be folding out most straights, whereas x/r you need to be folding out weaker boats too. So you need to decide which is more effective against specific opponents, what makes up the majority of their range, whether they bet straights on the river to get the x/r in etc
I dont think i would go for a x/r with much value here tbh (from the SB) since i have so many strong hands that BTN should be quite cautious and check back a lot. From the BB i will need to balance my range if i am x/r bluffing this hand. So if i had KK for example, likely when i block straights or an A (blocking SDV) i would go for the x/r here. If your opponent is very passive then yes you can adjust your lead frequency accordingly
Thanks! Are you talking about the double flush draw board? If so, yeah, you could likely just shove most cards 7 and below. The problem against this player is that the 9 blocker is a bit less relevant than against most opponents, given that we have somewhat determined that he doesn’t have a straight. It does help block his bluff catchers though if he is considering blockers. Given that we have seen some light call downs, you can honestly just give up unimproved.
yea definitely more than comfortable doing these as I have livestreamed a bunch on my youtube channel. If people like / want that format, happy to put that out there too

Not sure if you can see but first image is from this line BTN vs. SB where we check this river 35% of the time
Second is from BTN vs. BB where we check this river 66% of the time
Laurence,
Really enjoyed the video. I look forward to your next one.
Thanks again
Nice continuation Laurence! Thanks for the vid :)
thank you! I could probably make 1 or 2 more from this session, or do you prefer something new?
Laurence Heads
I would for sure be happy to see some of this, very educational :)
Great review!
11:00 what kind of river cards would you look to bluff? Low spades?
Thanks!

Yep the double flush draw board. Thanks!
I'm not sure if you're comfortable doing a live video but those are also good to watch sometimes. Thanks!
