Krzysztof Slaski

POSTED Jun 23, 2020

Continuing with his examination of various commonly played situations, Krzysztof Slaski turns his focus to playing when out of position in a single raised pot exploring both the GTO approach along with some exploits that are nice to have available depending on the opponent.

Tx for this video ! Very useful as always.

I think exploit 101 on massive ovb or small bet (<1/4pot) OTR are interesting subject, it’s always betsizing vilain are not used to play against.

1rst hand, if the flop go x x , what’s your strat OTT oop ? Do you only go for~ geometric size , or do you have smaller bet sizing ? On a 4 , a 5 or an A for example. ?

Cheers.

Hey. Thank you.

Due to how the IP betting strategy is structured I think what happens on a xx flop is we basically move the pot share advantage in OOPs favour, but composition of the ranges remains similar, so I don't think OOP will be going as large as geometric. At the same time I doubt xr remains as significant as the flop since IP no longer has so many good betting options (again, kinda dependent on the turn). On anything but an ace I would use both overbets and block bets, with the appropriate portions of the range. An A is a little trickier I think, because both ranges contain a few of them, so I would not go as large as overbet.

Cheers.

great video! , @ 14:42 you said you were not sure why pocket 55 pure bets after X/R and 44 cks. i wonder if its because if we bet with 55 we unblock 4x? and when we bet with 44 we block the 4 and our hand needs no protection.

Hey, Thanks!

Yeah that could very well be the reasoning there. These ranges have so few combos that these seemingly minor blocker effects definitely become significant.

I see a lot of coaches use 33% and 75% sizing on multiple streets. How come 50% and 66% are almost never used?

Krzysztof Slaski 4 years, 8 months ago

hehe I put bet sizings in there that I think are most likely to be used by the solver, while minimizing the solving time. I'll throw the 50% bet in there if I'm not sure, or if I think it's likely gonna be a dominant option.

RunItTw1ce 4 years, 8 months ago

I agree with you, I just don't understand "why" solvers don't use these sizes very often. On the App I play on there is a 1/2 pot, 2/3 pot, and pot button options. You can not adjust for different buttons, obviously type in or scroll to whatever bet size you want, but these 50% and 66% bets are ones I face more often then anything else. Easy to spot thinking players who use different sizes and identify fish who are just clicking buttons.

I am not sure if it's a pot odds thing that solvers mostly use 33% and 75% sizing or some other reason like geometric sizing.

Excellent video. I think any content revolving around generally difficult spots to play would be great. Playing oop is always tough so maybe playing oop in 3bet pots.

"Exploits 101: What's the Worst That Could Happen?"

In this episode, Krzysztof Slaski examines situations in which commonly implemented simplifications may have varying degrees of detrimental consequences. . .

  • Whether it's the preflop "3-bet or fold," or the flop "c-bet range for 33%," or even the river "block bet with marginal value," no simplified strategy is off limits.

Cool video, especially the comparison to what you would think really happens in praxis is worth a lot I think.

When I saw the cbetting results for the first hand I was also very sursprised, because I had ran this type of sim already and remembered a different outcome. I reran it and I was right in that my sim showed that OOP cbet around 24% given a 70% psb.
The main difference to your sim is that I had IP flat a lot less of the A9s-A2s (10% instead of your 50%). When I changed that I got results similar to yours.

Just goes to show that preflop ranges can have a huge impact and since it's really difficult to estimate them correctly in game choosing the correct strategy postflop can be incredibly hard.

Hey,

Yeah preflop ranges will absolutely make a big difference, and so it's pretty important to be perceptive enough to understand what your opponents are doing preflop while you're playing.

Cheers.

Could not finish the video unfortunately. While your knowledge of solvers and exploits is strong, you have a condescending demeanor/tone and assume everyone is on your skill level. Using words like "clearly", "obviously" way too much. Move this guy back down to essential please.

RunItTw1ce 4 years, 8 months ago

LOL!

Elite is dedicated towards advanced players. If you don't like the elite content, don't watch it. Sounds like you enjoy essential content much more. Most of us are thrilled to have Krzysztof making elite videos. I would also enjoy lower stake videos by him. Clearly he is worthy of elite coach though.

Krzysztof Slaski 4 years, 8 months ago

Hey Jondo

Sorry you didn't enjoy the video. If I sound condescending it is definitely not intentional. I make assumptions about the audience knowledge level based on my interaction with the average 200/500nl+ players, for whom the elite content is intended, as well as the dialogue between the elite members on the site. It's a very difficult task to cater to all the viewers, but given the separation of elite and essential I try to lean on the advanced side.
