Great analysis! Looking forward to the rest of this series.
18:50 right table you talked about lojacks line and said it was a rec line. Was it his timing or was it the turn bet sizing? Should it have been a turn overbet?
20:25 right table ajdd you mention you 3bet here by default. With the same stack depth, 50bb or so, do you still 3bet or fold at a non final table? Seems like too much eq to have to raise fold.
33:55 left table do you xr a8 vs utg if you are deep? It may put us into tougher spots if opponent calls or 3bets though i don't know how many 3bets he gets here.
18:50 - Nah the sizing seems fine here, it was more the timing combined with the preflop flat EP vs EP at a final table. Those are both pretty rare things to see from a pro, but looking back at the stack distribution now, I'd certainly play a bunch of flats myself with the parts of my range that don't want to stack off vs utg7 (stuff like 77-KK and suited broadways, as well as some AK, all feel like they should flat)
20:25 - I agree it's the type of hand I'd flat in general, not wanting to 3bet/fold, my reference here shows that AQs and KQs are also in the same category (although i'd have mostly 3bet these as well at the FT perhaps with the exception of AQs)
33:55 - No I wouldn't XR much deeper than this, I'm going to dislike stacking off vs utg quite a lot as we get to 25bb+ I imagine, but for 15bb I really just want to deny equity with such a good hand.
Really good video, also big thumbs up for including the sims towards the end, always interesting to look at ICM preflop sims. You could have even included one more spot (e.g you talked quite a bit about EP/MPvsEP open and how FT play shifts our strat more from mixing flats/3b towards much more of a CG 3b or fold strat with only few flats mixed in).
For sure - I'll keep in mind to highlight this in the future! For example, here's a sim that's also 50bb effective between EP and MP, but has notably less flat calling than the above comment that uses chipEV. 8-handed ICM solution with stack sizes and payouts shown on top.
