I have really enjoyed this series. Can't say that I'll play any stud variants in the near-future due to certain site offerings in the USA, but have always found these games really interesting and would tune into more videos if you guys continue this series.

Excellent video! Would love to see many more parts of this including hu. Carlos explains things very well. Giving kevin the chance to explain how he would play then carlos teaching how it should be played was great. I wonder if he would be interested in making videos here. Iteo is our resident mixed expert who does a fantastic job but one man can only produce so much content. :)

If it folds around to you on the "button" is it ever proper to fold and walk the bring in? Should we always at least limp?

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback! Here's Carlos' reply to your question:

"If your upcard is live and 4 or more ranks higher than the bring-in, then you should raise 100% of your range. If your upcard is dead or close in rank to the bring-in you should mix limp and raise. Having 1 out of 3 of their cards being low really hurts the bring-in's equity, plus they can't raise versus your limp so you get to see a 4th street card for cheap even when you have your weakest hands."

Hey Kevin and Carlos, a little off topic but i had the same question above about walking the bring in but for stud 8 or better. Since the bring in can defend so much wider do we ever walk them? Thank you.

Sorry for the delay SoundSpeed - here's Carlos' reply!

"I've only played maybe 5% as many S8 hands as 7CS, so I'm no expert but here is my best guess for various scenarios. You should raise 100% with an ace up. If both you and the BI have a high card or both have an 8 or lower, then mostly raise and occasionally limp. If they have a low card and you have a 9-K then I still think you should never fold (with most ante structures) but instead open limp the bottom half of your range. Sure you are making it obvious that you are weak, but since the bring in can't raise you get to see 4th street cheaply and any card you catch could potentially improve your hand, thus making it hard for the bring-ins 100% range to take much advantage of you.

On 4th if they catch a 2nd low card, you should be checking (unless you pair your up card, or catch a suited connector or an ace) because they can now rep a low draw for the rest of the hand but if they catch high cards then you can play more aggressively."

Great content here. I know it’s a really old video but if I were to analyze that last steal with (39)Q with two diamonds I would want to view it from the perspective of just a pure steal.

He blocks two of remaining cards behind him, a 9 and a three as well as diamonds, so instead of looking at equities I’d look at what I think the remaining players need to have to defend with, how often they will have it, and compare it to how often our steal needs to get through on 3rd in order to be instantly profitable.

And if we are called on 3rd when can still bink a queen which is around a 6% probability

In the hand where RuinF opens 26A and catches a 3o vs the bring in 4Qo do you always bet there ? feels like we have 0 fold equity and very poor equity; only 2 overcards vs 44; not many backdoor draws either.

I would check fold here and balance with some x calls (maybe something like 87A3) and xr (AA or KK; maybe something like 24A3 as a bluff)
