For those who don't know who Juan Pastor is. LOL. Amazing call even though you block one of the main call-call-donk lines. Congrats on the baby girl. Hope trading goes as well for you as poker did. Maybe RIO can start producing some crypto trading videos since its a big part of the community.
Amazing video Juan Pastor and crazy to hear about your journey and how far you moved up stakes. Congratz on the new addition to your family. You'll always be a part of the RIO community
Amazing journey man! Good luck with everything in the future.
I thought it was very interesting how you were crushing hard on the year that you decided to stop! Was your winrate this high during your first 5-10 years of career? Do you think that beingn around the games for almost 15 years was an advantage you had over the field?
Another question: Was this last year the only year that you took shots at high stakes? That would be sick
I think since 2017 at least I was beating up to 1k at 5-6bbs+.
The only advantage I had over most is that I just worked harder than most. I always knew that had a lot to improve and worked very hard to keep getting better among the years.
I shotted 2k like 3-4 times with super bad results, before 2019, some 5k too. On 2019 I jumped into 2k on Bodog and crushed it super hard, like 10bbs+, and there is where I started playing 5k+ more often. 2020 was definetly THE year of high stakes for me, and after getting that high, I wasn’t motivated anymore to keep playing poker, like I found my top, there was nothing else to accomplish in poker for me.
At the same time, trading showed up in my life, and was a complete new challenge, with much more higher stakes to climb :).
Juan Pastor Awesome man. Thanks for the response. Honestly, it was a bit surprising to me that you would stop playing exactly when you've reached a level that you would be able to make the most amount of money in your career. It probably means that trading is going amazing lol.
It's a shame that I only became familiar with your content recently! Now I'm currently watching your interview with the spider-man en el Cafetin (I'm from Brazil so I can understand Spanish pretty well). Good luck!
Thing is, online cash games are pretty dead. Grinding high stakes can be quite boring sometimes: not action, etc. Also you are capped on stakes.
I found out that start learning trading would be much more +EV for me in a short period of time, and I was right, also learning something new was much more interesting than bumhunting 5k+.
I mean HIGH STAKES ONLINE POKER is dead, not poker. Poker nowadays it's still beatable by very huge winrates, and you can make life chaning money on it.

Juan Pastor Wow, strong statemente there. Interesting to hear you say that, since most people make fun of the whole "poker is dead" thing.
