Josh Lessner breaks down blind play specifically focusing on 3B pots with an eye towards preflop. A great primer for those that may not be PIO warriors.

On A93r for CO vs BTN 3BP. On wizard if BTN CB 33% on A93r there is a 4x XR size being used (5.45 to 20.5bb), but if BTN CB 50% pot its mostly a click back (8.25 to 19.8bb).

On 732r for CO vs BTN 3BP. If BTN CB 33% CO is XR 5.45 to 15.05. If btn cb 50% pot 8.25 then CO XR to 19.8bb.

so vs 50% cb size on both boards its just a click back because we want a certain SPR on the turn?

Vs the 33% size I thought A93r would be the smaller 3x XR size compared to the 732r board. I appear to have these backwards. The 732 BTN is just going to have more air in range, so a bigger size is not needed and A93 OOP is going to be more polar so we are putting more pressure on top pair to play for stacks? Where 732 smaller XR vs the 1/3 is used because we are just folding out a bunch of air?

Short video but I really liked it because it is making me think pretty deeply about my XR size I use. Also thank you for using the black power point slides.

Definitely has a ton to do with getting a specific SPR ott.

As far as using a small XR size on the lower boards, it's just a function of getting some thin value. Depending on rake structure, you probably don't even have all the combos of sets on 732 so the function a XR serves is just getting some light floats/protection with middling made hands.

On A93, think again about the function a XR serves. You've outdrawn all the TT-JJ type hands with Ax, but we're still at a nut disadvantage in Ax so we don't really want to put our stack in with much TP as the aggressor. We get value from the TT-KK region by going x/c x/x and betting ourselves otr. A huge reason studying BXB on these high/dry boards is so important in 3BP.

BvB 3BP
732r
BB CB 25% 5bb. SB XR to 30bb (6x) or 21.5 (4.3x)

BTN vs CO 3BP
732r
BTN CB 33% (5.45bb), CO XR to 15.05bb (35%)

On the 732r board CO will XR a smaller size because BTN has more air in range. Then on the same board 732r BvB SB will XR larger because BB uses a more polar 3bet range preflop, so BB connects more with the board with A2, 54s, etc, so SB wants to XR bigger to charge these hands or deny equity to these hands.

BTN vs CO 3BP
A93r
BTN CB 33% (5.45bb), CO XR to 20.5 (4x)

BvB 3BP
A93r
BB CB 25% (5bb), SB XR to 14.9 or 21.5 (3-4x)

On the A93r board BTN will have more equity, so CO will XR polar using a bigger size. On A93r. BvB the equity runs closer together, so SB can XR smaller size using a more linear range?

OOP is XR very similarly in both configurations on Ahi boards in my sims. Mind sharing your tree settings?

On the lower boards, OOP XR bigger BvB b/c the middling pairs like 88-TT aren't so much thin value as the IP player has tons of board pairs eg 87 76 A3o etc so 99 can comfortably play for stacks.
