Nice run; I finished in 48th in this one. Disappointed we were never at the same table, but I did get to have Rast 2 to my left the end of day 1... only player to pick a Hold 'Em variant (PLHE, a previous bracelet of his). Stud high low regular was frequently chosen at my tables on day 1 only. PL 2-7 TD was very bloody and popular as well. Looking forward to the remainder of this discussion.
How soft are the 1.5k dealers choice compared to the 1.5k horse or 8 game?
In 2023 I played my first ever wsop mixed tourney (I didn't make it out last year). It was a 1.5k 8 game, the one deeb went on to win. I felt like everyone at my table was solid. That may just be because I was probably one of the worst players at my table.
42:00 in stud8 this would be a call down unless opponent caught an excellent card for his range on 6th, right? We usually call down if our high has any decent shot at being good, right?
I haven't played enough of these 1500$ events (dealer's choice/horse/8game) to give you an answer. I think in general all 1500$ are quite soft. It really depends on your table, seat draw obviously. Usually Final Tables should be quite tough. My guess is that probably at the 1500$ dealer's choice you will have stronger final table. Just because if somebody will suck in one game, opponents will call that game continuesly .Therefore (really) bad/mediocre players can't make it to the end.
42:00 Stud8 and stud high low regular are despite similar but still very different game! But yes, in stud8 100% call 5th and almost always call down till river (only exception if villains open pairs his aces, with A37A, and we catch a total brick, 46-399K for example

Great coverage of lesser played games!
