iteopepe88 heard the request for more badugi content and obliges with this review of the SCOOP high stakes final table. Though it's rare to see a straight badugi game run online nowadays, this hole-cards revealed final table provides non-stop badugi action allowing him to comment on a number of interesting hands.

@ around the 24 minute mark. The (Sb)AJ24 v (BB)2357. Wouldn’t it be better to just call the check raise after the first draw so Sb won’t break a weakish made badugi like this that still has the potential to outdraw us if they do? Thereby costing them a draw before realizing we are pat. Especially in this super short stack tournament scenario.

Sorry for the late reply... You make a good point, however in this spot if SB thinks that BB bets always, even unimproved then SB can checkraise for value with good 3cards (even a hand like A25, A35...). Against those we are losing value.

So it depends on the opponent. If i play this way from the bigblind (only call the SB open and take 1), since i capped my range pre i wouldn't bet always (unimproved) after the 1st draw. Against that strategy SB shouldn't checkraise any 3card hands, SB should only craise badugis, and if that's case i agree with your play.

But if we are wrong, and SB checkraises strong 3cards we lose in my opponent way much, compared that we give the SB an information that his marginal badugis isn't good (he only has 4outs against us, and we give him one more shot for that). We are not losing that much, that he

So all in all, it depends on how players play that spot. If SB only have badugis then i think your strategy is good. Calling might be better (also keeping our range wider, since we will also have some marginal 9-T-J badugis). But if SB can have 3card badugis for then it's a disaster to just call and see it goes 1-pat at 2nd draw.

I actually watched this final table only 2 days ago so it was quite a coincidence finding that you had made a video on it. Would have liked to have seen a second part but enjoyable nonetheless.
