Hey Hunter. This is FL and where you moved? Nice to see you on here and I enjoyed the short time we played together at HG.
1) Regarding river, wouldnt we be betting turn w most TX and JJ? Also not sure if you ran it but I'd think we would want a large sizing on river once it went xx xx. We have sets that want to maximize, and even hands like 99 aren't too thin to go pot. We then can really force AK into folds and bluff all our K-high and worse.
2) Vs described player and him being oop to field I'd consider folding AJo. You think that's too tight?

I didnt watch all but enjoyed it.

Hey Zachary, long time no see. I hope you and your family are well. I've been based out of Jacksonville, FL for 3 years now.

1) I definitely think an argument can be made for sizing up and I would do that against certain player types.

2) I can't fold AJo on a live stream, bro. But yes, I would consider it off stream.

Hey Hunter, these are pure quality content. Just wondering would you consider making some theory based videos for live plays? Cheers!

I appreciate all the words of wisdom in this video about going counter to the solver when peeling one on the flop or facing bets from garbage rngs but it still being ok to fold and move on. In trying to incorporate the solver into all of my decisions I have been hitting walls in both cash and tourney play. I have moved far away from explotitive play and just understanding the situations I am in and my game has suffered. This video has confirmed a lot of the feelings I have had lately about just being able to give a spot up but not doing it because it wouldn't be solver approved or I am worried about getting exploited when in reality it is just a crappy spot that I need to fold.

Enjoyed a bunch of your videos so far TY, can we get some "standup game tips" in your next video?

Hunter Cichy 2 years, 2 months ago

Oh man, the standup game is tough. It might be the toughest variant to learn how to play. I gotta think about that for a minute. I don't even know where to start. But I'll add it to my to-do list.

26:45 talk about folding BB vs 3x opens weaker broadways. I was thinking AJo+ KQo+ as continues for what I was doing online mw. Live I over defend and burn some money here JTo. On wizard I was shocked how tight BB is defending closing the action. Six max LJ 2.5, btn & sb call. Bb??

Why would AXs fold?
Typically I would call or 3bet with
AJ+ KQ+ 22+ A2s+ K5s+ Q8s+ J8s+ 43s+ 53s+.

Thoughts on BB defense range MW?

Hunter Cichy 2 years, 2 months ago

GTO Wizard assumes a really solid LJ RFI, a really solid BU flat, a really solid SB overcall, and perfect play postflop. It's rare that all four of those assumptions are correct. Consequently, I would defend BB wider than that. Still, the worst offsuit Broadways should be folded. Always prioritize suited aces over suited kings over suited connectors over small pocket pairs over offsuit Broadways. If you see me do something contrary to that edict, it's because I'm on a live stream.

Hunter Cichy Mental game question for you that I struggle with quite a bit. Whenever I am winning say 2-3 buy-ins and table gets deep I don't mind playing because I'm only in for one buy-in. If I get cooled off, I'm only -1 buy-in. However, when I am stuck 3-4 buy-ins and get back to even, but the other players are also deep I don't want to risk getting cooled off where now I get set over set, I'm down 3-4 buy-ins for the day.

How do I overcome this risk aversion? The rules at the casino would be like 2 hour break to reset your stack. If you change tables you have to bring entire stack with you. I know players go south or north all the time during table changes, but I'm trying to adhere to the rules. $1/$3 players being more risk averse go south. $5/$10 players tend to go North as they are likely table changing to play deeper vs a fish.

Thanks in advance for any feed back on this topic.

Picture two stacks in your mind's eye: the "small" stack in front of you on the table and the "huge" stack behind you that is the size of your entire bankroll converted into either black $100 chips or orange $1K chips depending on the size of your roll. The "small" stack is what you can lose this hand. The "huge" stack is the army reserve. When you think like that, you can be stuck 3-4 buy ins and still play like you're even on the session.

Great stuff. With regards to the cup game (totally new to me), wouldn't the SB (who is the only one able to win the cup) be able to open/raise far wider than a solver/chart would suggest because everyone else has to defend vs the SB super tight since they are unable to win the cup? So with 15bb effective from the SB, maybe we could use a 7bb push/fold chart for example. Am I missing something?

Hunter Cichy 2 years, 2 months ago

The SB has a lot more incentive to VPIP but the other players know that and if the SB starts opening garbage they should 3-bet much wider.
