21 min AJc on the 353r board HJ vs BTN you mention the cbet frequency goes up OOP when players are not raising enough and flatting too wide preflop. From the videos I watched from fellow RIO coach Shaun Pauwels for cbetting oop srp. the cbet frequency is around 28%, but a lot of professionals simplify to checking range oop. How high of a frequency are you talking about for cbetting OOP? Are you factoring in texture as well? Where the 986 boards you start to check range more often and just cbetting closer to range on the dry flops?
27min the AK vs AK vs KK hand Tyler Forrester has a video on folding some AK hands preflop. Where as the aggressor you are allowed to shove, but it becomes -EV to stack off even at 100bb for typical ranges. Also curious if you ever discount any of your outs given some 3bets / 4bets that happen where you probably share some outs with those ranges.
39:45 You said we should call a 3 bet with AKo OOP? This does not seem like a thing unless you are referring to only deep stack play as at 100bb AK OOP will be pure 4bet including some 4 bet jams.
21 min | I ran a quick Pio sim to be more scientific. I gave myself a 21% RFI and I gave Villain a 25% flatting range. It's reasonable to assume he was flatting that wide because he showed up with Q7s. I gave myself B33/B67/B150 on the flop. I'm supposed to use B33 65% and check the rest of the time. AcJc is supposed to use B33 50% and check-call the rest of the time. Facing B33, Villain is supposed to use R50 23%. I would estimate that less than 5% of the player pool will actually raise flop that frequently. If I take away Villain's option to raise on the flop, I'm supposed to c-bet range.
Yes, I'm factoring in flop texture. My response would be totally different on a 986 board. Simplifying to checking your whole range is leaving too much value on the table. As soon as Villain deviates, a "new optimal" response is created for Hero. If Hero continues to mimic the "old optimal" response because he's a lazy solver purist, he's leaving value on the table.
27 min | I've seen that video. I'm a big Tyler Forrester fan even though we're playing totally different formats. Yes, I consider dead cards preflop, especially after Villain tank-folds instead of putting in a cold 4-bet. I treat it like the deck only has 3.5 aces at that point.
39:45 min | If you look at PokerSnowie Pro > Scenario > Preflop Advice and/or Monker sims 200bb+ using a 3.5x RFI from EP1-LJ, you will see that AKo should call a 3-bet OOP ~50%. This helps to uncap your 3-bet defense range on HLLr/ss boards. It also helps to limit the number of ace-high combos you have in your OOP 4-bet range on LLLr/ss and MMMr/ss boards when Villain has better board coverage due to the deeper stack depth.
Thank you Hunter Cichy for the detailed response, much appreciated! There is one more old video by Sauce123 where he talks about not 4 betting KK at 200bb and just using AA and AXs. The AKo I was talking about was just referring to more 100bb stack depth because of the straddles effecting the stack size. Again appreciate the break down :-)
Excellent video. The straggling is probably great to manipulate the table with a big skill advantage. However, I do not see how it theoretically loses 10% OTB and 20% UTG. You are throwing in dead money with a random hand. Under best play, you usually have to just fold the hand to a raise.
Playing loose against people playing junk hands may be good to maximize winnings per hour if you normally beat 10x the stakes. However, there does not seem anything wrong with playing solid against loose players, although you will be viewed as a nit.
Why is 5!/folding AKs better than flat calling the 4!?
1) I'll discuss straddling more in future videos. These are just rough estimates based on Monker sims.
2) There's nothing wrong with playing Monker/Snowie approved RFI/3-bet ranges in splashy lineups. That's still a winning strategy, although it won't generate the highest win rate.
3) Calling a 4-bet with AKs in that spot would usually force a 4-way hand OOP with super deep stacks. 5-betting denies equity and creates dead money.
At 11:55 you talk about the rng a pro would cold call a 3bet from the sb. I know I play 4bet or fold and don't have a cold call rng. Do you feel this rng should ne developed? Is this a live poker only or a weak table only adjustment?
18:05 you mention solver does a lot of third, third third and third third big bet lines in 4bet pots. This makes sense as spr is so low. Do you find when in position that the block sizing still gets used a lot on the turn in srp and 3bet pots? I don't see it as much but i doubt i have done as much solver study as you.
11:55 | I only cold-call 3-bets in soft lineups when I want the pot to go multiway. The majority of the time, my strategy is 4-bet or fold.
18:05 | I see far less B33 --> B33 IP in SRP/3BP. However, B33 --> B33 is still used frequently OOP in SRP/3BP w/ merged hands like TPWK + SD/FD. Think, "Merge turn range to prevent B33 --> call --> check --> polarized bomb --> ???" This isn't necessary IP because you can check behind and realize your equity.
In soft lineups, do not some players 3! only AK/JJ+ or tighter? So would not it be a mistake to 4! those players without KK+? Is there that much light 3!ing in 2/5 games?
Waiting for more NLHE videos. When can I expect it ?
I m just enjoying what u r teaching and learning from every word you say.
I have watched NLhe 2-5 all 5 videos and 25-50 2 videos.

Great video and great insight into live poker.
