Leszek Badurowicz

POSTED Jun 02, 2018

Leszek Badurowicz dives into a mental game topic that almost every poker player has to deal with: being results oriented. In the first part of the series he takes a deeper look at the reasons for our obsession with results and explains why it is such a bad characteristic to possess for people who aspire to play poker at a high level.

I like to allow myself to play a mind game with myself to help serve me. I pretend I'll be locked in paradise for eternity after the session and never get to use the money. But I will be able to rewatch my session and see how I played whenever I miss poker. Works wonders. Cheers.

Great video! I always had a trouble with being too much result oriented, always checking how much I won/lost after each session, but with the explanation, you gave about variance at the beginning of the video that will change for sure! Thank you and can't wait for part 2

Great to hear that! I think awareness of how being results oriented affects us is already a 50% of success. In the second part I will present some strategies to deal with that or at least to decrease the level of being results-oriented. Hope you will enjoy that too :-)

what I take from this video:

being results/money-oriented will not let me maximize my potential not only in poker, but also in the other businesses of my life.

thinking about money is poisonous and is draining too much attention and the amount of attention is only limited. that attention should be guided towards the tasks in my process to fully reach my potential.

Great Job coach!
I've watched all your videos and can't wait for the next one.
I liked the new audio and soundeffects.
For all the coaches: this is how training videos should be done.

Love the music at the end. Feel like I can take on the world with that rousing outro, obviously in a non results oriented way:)

You define my "downswing default state mode" to perfection: overall, poor performance, which makes getting out of the downswing much more difficult. Thank you Leszek!

Just putting my current ideas out there. I am curious about what you think. I think results give us a feeling of validation. Not in a bad way, but having results gives validation that all the hard work and time you put in was worth it. I think results are important. It is the only thing that helps you distinguish between wether or not you are being delusional or really doing the right thing. But no matter how hard it is you can't focus on it and when the results don't come I think we tend to want to change the results, rather than the process.

I am taking a break on poker, because I am focusing on school. But I find myself watching these videos and finding these mental game concepts helpful in all areas of life. Love the videos! Keep them coming!

Yeah definitely you need to find the right balance between being decision-oriented and have some sort of validation that your strategy is profitable. Outside the poker tables results are definitely important. However once you are in the session, it's best just to focus on your decisions as results will usually have a negative impact on your mindset.
