Henry Lister aka AllTooNew fires up three tables and plays some very fun hands including a really tough call for all the marbles facing a river overbet with a marginal holding.

Henry Lister 29:50 mark I am curious about your turn sizing given the player is short stack in a 3 bet pot. Was thinking the turn should be much smaller sizing and just try and keep AX in and not worry too much about charging the flush draw. Just charge AX and set up a river shove. This sizing leaves him with less than half pot on the river. Looking back at it, would you use a different sizing, if so how many BB? I was thinking about 22bb.

Given the wetness of the texture I don't think we are going to be doing much raise folding as it is. Essentially I think we are just looking to raise and punish all flush draws and get money in the middle vs Ax which I assume a fish is unlikely to fold.

I think whether we go to 22 or 28 big blinds is unlikely to have much of an effect vs his continue range here.

Henry Lister What do you think about tripling this combo unblocking all draws and blocking some AQ? Also would you consider check calling the river given you 1/3 flop and turn went X X ? Seems like Ace high has quite a bit of SDV here on this texture.

If we bet the turn this is a fine river combo given we unblock many folds (spades, jt, kj-kt) . I would mostly look to continue on the turn with spades, straight draws, gutters however. If we bluff with kj-kt-jt-spades and a lower frequency 56 (exploitative 3 bet as in theory it is a pure fold) then we already have a vast array of bluffs and thus if we start to liberally triple a6hh off here then we very easily start overbluffing.

Henry Lister Reason I ask about triple off A6h here is because in 3 bet pots, some other coaches such as Gary Chappell use AK here to triple off, for combos that unblock spades and they target JJ & TT hands to fold. I thought unblocking KT KJ as well, would make A6h even a better combo, it does block back door heart combos that float though. Usually same page as you with barreling hands that pick up equity or flopped equity.

You repeatedly mention this game isn't your main game since 2018, why do you do coaching videos on a game format you're rusty at? Surely it's more helpful to community to do videos on what you currently play and have the most to teach us? Understandable if you play live poker but even then seen some epic live hh review videos and know the RIO community appreciate any format where the coach is being creative over a bog standard 200z live session. Thanks

I mostly play 500-1K. Stars zoom is the most preferred format on this site and allows for many hands to be seen and discussed in mass detail. If the stake jump is the biggest cause for concern I have uploaded 500z footage on this site (but for higher stakes footage would recommend looking into elite range).

If you want creativity and variety I have also uploaded videos on:
- Dealing with downswings
- Database hand reviews
- Replayer pool hand analysis
- Poker Study Advice
- PIO Simplifcations

With an upcoming video being released on 'Pros/Cons of Being a Poker Pro' to help people conclude if they wish to make the transition.

The majority of my videos are post audio zoom videos as they get positive feedback and it is very difficult to come up with new and creative video ideas after producing over 45 videos for the site.

I appreciate the feedback to look into some live hand histories. In future once we get back to live poker after coronavirus I will look into this.

Henry Lister I don't mind making videos at 200z as you are obviously a proven winner. Many people wish coaches would drop down even lower and make videos at 50NL, which is essential members main game. You see that Ben Sulsky made a 50NL video, Peter Clarke 50NL video, both got a lot of love for making micro videos. People can see more of the exploits coaches uses vs calling stations or tighter ranges people use because of rake impact.

Hi Henry, long time watcher, first time commenter here.

I understand that some of your viewer feedback has been critical of your "overuse" of 1/3 cbet sizings. Hence, it seems you recently have been leaning towards more GTO checkbacks, etc. "for the fans."

I would still prefer to see the line YOU yourself would normally take if you weren't recording a training video. After all, I am watching your videos to see what has made YOU the successful player you are. I have access to pio anytime I want. I guess as a fan what I'm saying is don't be a sellout ;)

p.s. I second RunItTw1ce's question about the 88 turn raise sizing. Is this the sizing you would be using if it were a bluff?

Henry Lister 4 years, 9 months ago

Appreciate the feedback. It's difficult to find a balance on a public platform where people are quick to judge your strategies, especially in poker where the majority of grinders are narrow minded with their approach and how poker should be played.

Hi Henry appreciate the vid. You mention in quite a few of your videos bb defence ranges that are rake dependant. Are these ranges deducible only on programs such as PIO or are there some approximations and general rules to construct any other way? Cheers.

Henry Lister 4 years, 9 months ago

You can deduce these ranges externally. I have purchased ranges in the past from 'monkersolver' which is a tree builder that solves for preflop solutions.

last hand 56s, whats up with the close to min click on turn? What's going thru your mind to choose this sizing? I would think we can go a bit bigger given our opponent will def have some FD's in range that we can get a ton of value from. Seems like using a smaller sizing is reasonable in general tho granted its a paired board, and a small size does put any pair in a pretty tough spot because we defended the BB.

I think 2.5-3x achieves similar results than the 2.2x. Maybe 2.2-2.5x causes some spazzes tho too. Interesting spot

Henry Lister 4 years, 9 months ago

If my opponent calls there is pot behind on the river. This makes it a fine sizing to use. We can definitely go bigger for the reasons you have stated and It will likely be better.

And the minraise puts alot of his one pairs in a tough spot given they do not have equity to continue vs trips.

Definitely an interesting spot.

I think most recs and regs will see this line as very underbluff, which vs a rec is very likely the case. Though I don't think you will get to this line with most regs.

What do you think about possibly overbluffing this line vs recs? A part of me thinks that there's a good chance that most recs will overfold to this.
