Hey, really enjoyed your first Poker Scientist video and the software in general. To go threw different spots in this video and take a closer look in the gameplan sometimes was also pretty informative.
But i would found it even more helpful if you would take an even closer look to some spots. Especially one of the last hands with 98ss BBvsUTG. I also wouldnt raise there thin enough on the flop. So take a look back on the flop action(raising Freq. etc) and compare it to the same texture T92r vs the BUT would be really helpful, at least in for me.
I actually prefer this format compared to your live play videos. It is nice to hear your analysis and reasoning behind each decision and then to see the solvers decision. Well done and I look forward to seeing more!
A lot of the bet sizing options being used, I don't usually see in normal games. For example the 40% instead of 33% or the 2x pot with 87s on T9XT9 board. I would imagine villain could have some KJs QJ maybe some ace highs that peeled the flop that would fold to a more normal 75% size. If you're having trouble with scientist I imagine 90% of the community will as well.
Side question if you are going to be grinding full time, what type of schedule would you have with gym, study, & grinding?
My personal schedule varies alot based on what games I am playing but generally I do what I want. I tend to mostly go to bed around 3-4am and then wake up midday as my body just enjoys that schedule.
Gyms have been closed in the UK for several months due to coronavirus. I have been going for walks in the afternoon to get in 10k steps and fresh air everyday to keep both mentally and physically in a healthy condition.
My studying is generally ongoing as I have to answer questions/analyse hands from guys in my private stable around the clock. These conversations mean I am normally finding out new results from PIOsolver or working out additional exploits at any time of day. In the past I used to just PIO hands in-between sessions or mark several hands to PIO at the end of my session.
Take any advice you wish from this to try and generate your own schedule. If I have learnt anything over the years, it's do what works best for you rather than copying others as everyone is different. However, I can heavily suggest finding downtime, getting adequate sleep and exercising outside daily with whichever schedule you decide to follow.
It does help in the fact I have the almost the exact same schedule, just feels super unhealthy and tend to lack volume because of it. GF has a fit bit and tries to get 10,000 steps in when she can, but also I have been sleeping 3-6am and some times as late as 8am and waking up between 1-3pm. Then end up studying for 1-2 hours, mostly rio videos, and HH with group. Then end up eating dinner (skipping breakfast and lunch), and feels like I only have 2 hours a day to play after that. Doesn't feel very productive, but I know my sleep habits are the main cause of it. I am happy, just feel I am not giving it my all in terms of grinding. It's more of making enough to pay the bills, but not getting ahead in life type of thing. Getting too complacent and lax on current life style and not passionate enough for wanting more! Being your own boss hard to apply a healthy schedule.
I really appreciate this video as I am trying to up my game studying and deciding between Poker Scientist and GTO Wizard. It would be interesting to see that one in action too.
Software aside; nice content video!
A critical point though...a bit lazy not to familiarize yourself with the software beforehand ;)
Hey Henry, love your videos as usual and this format is very enjoyable. The BB vs UTG is definitely a tough one to play, especially that you need to raise top pairs sometimes and put yourself in some awkward spots on turn and rivers.
"My head is currently exploding".. That's how I always feel after studying for an hour with Simple GTO Trainer.. Find a few leaks, afterwards run them in a Pio script and study the spots. It's efficient at least!
I'm assuming for the sims like the T9xT9 hand where it shows your overbet rivers including a bunch of Tx like JT,QT etc and even some 9x that it's only a fraction of a combo of these that raises flop. Does it show number of combos it expects you to raise flop with those? I know you said you must be way under raising flop, but tbh i'd expect it to just be AT as a 1-pair raise for value at any meaningful frequency.
Hi Henry. Nice video; I am wondering...sure it says to range bet AQo on 8-5-3 rainbow, but at a lower stake than 1-2...like .25 and .50...and especially right now during the pandemic....do we lose more EV by range betting at lower stakes?
Its fine if you cannot answer....the games are very good right now, so my study time is lower and my grind time is high.
Why would you lose EV by range betting at lower stakes? The game is the same, the stakes do not effect what a theoretically good play is.
Generally you should learn to just play correct poker from a theoretical standpoint and then make deviations from equilibrium when you have significant data to make such plays (individual stats on an opponent or mass database analysis on population). This will just increase your EV to make you more money. Without this you should just play good solid poker and you will win in any game worldwide at any stake.
Ok thanks for the quick response man. Good advice. I play in weird games though ha.
Ignition poker 25 and 50 NL. Kind of soft games, but there are no usernames so players do deviate from normal and they can over call quite a bit.
I know the games. These games from my experience consist of many weak players due to it being low stakes and ignition (known for being very soft). Therefore value bet more thinly and be more cautious with how liberally you can bluff.
Generally you still want to play the same solid strategy however than you would elsewhere, just give up on the more elaborate bluffs.
This is a truly incredible video and it's amazing that it's available for only the price of an essential sub. When it comes to Poker Scientist: I'm really intrigued. Will I be able to purchase this directly from the website as an American?
The answer to my question is yes. I bought a monthly sub to both the gameplan and trainer of Poker Scientist based on what I've seen of it in Henry's videos. It has immediately paid off. I love it.

Nice video chap. I'm a fan of coaches vs trainer vids!
