Fanov12 years, 2 months agoHi Grayson, about the 22 hand vs Papa you said that it was very marginal to call even with great odds but you didn't what other option would be best. Can we shove 23bb here with 22 vs someone opening as wide as Papa or you just rather fold pre?
Grayson Ramage12 years, 2 months agoThanks for the question Fanov, sorry I didn't address this in the video. It definitely depends on Papa's opening and calling range. In this particular spot on the FT bubble, I definitely think this would be a profitable shove, since I expect Papa to be opening very wide.
OTwenty 12 years, 2 months agoexcellent video. Very well explained thought process and i like your dynamic based plays on the ft alot with the shorter stack. A+
samothraki11 years, 10 months agohi grayson,
in the 74s hand at the end if he shoves the flop are you folding? and if he calls you give up?
Grayson Ramage11 years, 10 months agoI think I have to call his shove getting this price, especially if he flats my 4bet with Ax some of the time and then shoves over my cbet. If he calls I would give up on most turns.
@12:00 w/KQo - what do you think about 3bet/folding here, like 18k? It looks pretty strong, we never get flatted and he's rarely 4bet shoving light I believe, as we're on FT bubble, so in total we avoid a high variance spot, that might happen after 3bet shoving? Or is it just easy spot to shove, because of ICM tightening up his calling range a lot?
Grayson Ramage11 years, 10 months ago3betting does look strong, but we are basically turning our hand into a bluff by doing this if we are not calling a shove. I think he could 4bet shove light some of the time, so I would prefer just flatting rather than 3b/folding, especially when we are in the BB.
I still think shoving is best though, since he is opening quite a bit and he should not be calling a shove very wide due to ICM.
Hey, Grayson. Great videos, thank you.Whats your calling range on 10:10 after that strange push 37bb ef?I think there is no hands like JTc/KJ because they play postflop very good, but lots of 22-66, so I guess 77 is much more better than AK here, what do u think about it?
Grayson Ramage11 years, 10 months agoI would agree with your assessment of his range, I think 66+ AQs+ would be a good calling range. It would be very tough to fold a hand like AKo in this spot, but it might be correct to fold.
5:35 - Against most players I prefer to cbet and barrel off, against this specific player I think more of an argument can be made for checking back since he did not like to fold.
30:19 - I like defending more than shoving, this a hand I would never consider folding today, funny how much things can change in a year and a half.
Thanks Francisco, from the SB it is reasonable to shove against a lot of players, but I prefer defending in the BB because the hand plays well postflop, like you said.
at 16min mark with ajo would you consider 3bet jamming with 40bb for icm purposes? There are a couple short stacks so if he 5bets jam you wouldn't it be somewhat of a suicidal call?

Hey, Grayson, nice vid as always, just a few questions:
05:35 Could an argument be made to check back flop?
30:19 Would you consider ship your J8s there after the open from the btn?
Thank you.

Thank you for the quick answer, Grayson.
What are your thoughts behind defending your J8s rather than shoving? You still have ~20bbs and the hands plays well post flop?
Btw, nice score on the wcoop, you deserved it. Ty.

You're welcome. I'll keep following you here, you're a reference.
Thank you and good luck for the next scoop.

Today I would prefer just defending AJ. While shoving is likely profitable, I don't think it is optimal.
