Alien Slayer

POSTED Dec 06, 2021

Alien Slayer reviews a 5-card PLO session across 6 tables. During the review he lays the focus on preflop play and backs up close decisions with a new beta tool for 5-card PLO ranges.

Interesting! How much RAM do you need to crunch a 5C 100bb preflop solve with this software? How much RAM to load a solve into the program for study?

Alien Slayer 3 years, 4 months ago

It’s actually going to be pre solved , similar to vision. From what I heard it does require huge amounts of RAM/ server bandwidth to run the sims though.

What is this software called? The simulation seems also far away from a fully converged state, I can’t believe that we have so much mix strategies in a lot of preflop spots.

Alien Slayer 3 years, 4 months ago

Afaik It still doesn’t have a name . Yes, it’s a beta version and the sims are still converging since it takes much more time then regular plo sims . I don’t take the results as a given for now but I think it’s plausible to draw first conclusions like what suited versions of a hand are likely to vpip/PFR from a certain position.

I am actually pretty jealous, for a normal human being like me there is just no way to get access to a PLO5 solver with training function (it seems like software also has the training function) right now.

Alien Slayer 3 years, 4 months ago

Just remain patient, I assume that 5c solvers will be accessible rather sooner then later…
And yes, it also has a training feature which I will use in future videos as well

This type of content - (beta) solver + pre analysis is good,
if you'd stop a bit on simple postflop decisions (cbet vs xback decisions, etc) - would be greatly appreciated.
thanks for the video.

min 4 you pointed out that in 5card you split about even between flatting and 3betting in the SB according to solver and you implied this is different from 4card. But Vision plays about the same strat in the SB. flatting 8%, 3betting 9%.

Alien Slayer 3 years, 3 months ago

Yes you are right. I personally play oftentimes with more of a 3bet or fold strategy from the SB if there is a good player in the BB, but the GTO solution does indeed include much more flat calling

Great Video! Re: the ATT99ds hand (at 19:21), I'm not sure I understand the output correctly. It looks like it says to mix between all 3 options with the combo that's got an offsuit Ace. However, it looks like the EV gains from calling and 3-betting are 0.2bbs and 0.3bbs, respectively. Why would we ever turn down a 20bb/100 option (or for that matter, choose 20 over 30)? These outcomes don't seem close enough to be mixing. Thoughts?

Alien Slayer 3 years, 3 months ago

I would assume that it has to do with the sims not having run long enough at that point to increase the accuracy of the results. They are still running non stop and I am positive that in the final version those spots will be a pure decision for the option with the highest EV .

Min 18:12. Not accounting for the fact that hand is trash and not playable, but about the 3+2 ds version being more playable than the perfect ds in that instance, i think it does make sense actually, when holding non high cards/suits. Having a strong flush, and nut flush, is much more relevant in 5c, so if u only have the chance to hit a shitty flush, u might as well have 3 of the suit so at least the hand is a better bcatcher in a postflop situation if it was to happen. What do u think?

Alien Slayer 3 years, 2 months ago

yes you are right, I haven't thought about it that way! will keep an eye out if that is a solver trend throughout different hands and spots.

thx for the vid and keep up the 5card content please.

18:00 double tripple suited hands are indeed better to call, theres some similar stuff in 4c where tripple suited becomes better than single, as our flush is good more often and becomes a better bluffcatcher.

How would we know that the solver is rdy? is there some kind of a newsletter you can subscribe to? Also happy to do some beta testing, if theres the option ;)
