great vid as always. glad to see u got 2nd in ept.
at 12min, when you say bet polar on turn if he c/r all in with most j9+ and bluffs (so a reasonable frequency), do you consider QT and A8 hands that wont be in this polar range given they have a good amt of outs and have to bet/fold to an all in jam? would u prefer to use weaker gutshots? if this is the case though, it sorta sucks bc our betting range is weaker since our bluffs are weaker.
Also, you seem to be shaping your range based on bluffing all of you bluffing (this is why u want to bet 1.2x pot etc) but shouldnt you also outline his range and see what hands he must call with to defend properly, and from there determine what vbets go into each sizing?
and please more of these live tournament videos! escp since ur going to all these live stops
you dont say villains name in the video for the sake of his privacy but give a hint on how to figure it out very easily. just save us the work next time please :)
I also run into this problem when making videos and I think Sam's approach is the best one, even if his hint was a bit obvious. With the HR fields being pretty small and a lot of info being publicly available there just isn't much you can do about a villain in a hand being outed (nor do I believe you have an ethical obligation to prevent it). However I do think it's gray area unethical to straight up say someone's name especially if the hand is particularly revealing or if doing so outs anything more than general tendencies.
I agree with what Daniel said, but i'll add one more thing. I don't script my videos before hand so if I outed a villain early in the video there is no guarantee that i wouldn't end up giving much more specific reads later in the video. So when I begin talking about the hand I like to be as vague as possible about the villain in case i say something more specific later.
Great video from someone who knows theoretically why these ideas are correct it is nice to see some concrete examples of why and it cements these ideas into my head ( I sound like a stonemason ).
From a practical point of view if it appears that a 3x pot river bet is the best soloution/ combined with exploitive reasons do you make this play ? Does the loss of future +ev spots prevent us from making what might be the correct 3x pot bet here? (presuming we had 3x pot ).
