About the KQo OOP cbet on AKTdd @ 20 minutes. If we want to cbet a lot of our range on this flop, does that mean you will cbet around 70-80% and then basically always check/fold your air (your low to medium pocket pairs/SC’s), or do you still want to have a small check/calling range OTF, for example with hands like KJ, K9s, JTs, T9s etc?
Assuming we cbet OTF with a range of 70%+, would you then consider splitting your range OTT in a more balanced way because villain’s range is now pretty much a decent bluffcather/draw or better (similar to our range), or rather apply an exploitative turnbarrel strategy?
I'm a little bit unsure what my whole range looks like here, I def feel like I would just c/f no equity hands like 78s, 22 etc. It also makes sense to c/c aces and maybe AK/KK some of the time to have a bit of balance and be more protected with hands like JTdd and say K9 that we want to go to showdown with
23:30 As2s thoughts on betting the turn as a semi-bluff (we could get him to fold some pockets + usually have 5 outs) + bluff prevention against rather weakish ranges ? problem is we're not repping a whole lot (esp. since I'd want to use decent betsizing), but I would guess that they still fold enough, given the ch/behind and the BB not leading the turn.
yeah I just feel like we don't rep much like you said, I would like to bet that flop very often with my stronger hands and 2 on the turn doesn't change very much. They could both easily have some weaker jacks or decent tens in their range and bbs stack is good for check/shoving on a bunch of turn stabs. by checking we can still often realize our 5 outs and maybe some times win the hand to sd
I am really enjoying your videos and a big congratulations on your two big results! I am also considering potentially being a MTT player.
I know this is only the later end of the tournament so I was hoping you can please comment on your tournament strategy in a tournament like this say splitting, early game, mid game and late game. Possibly commenting on ranges, calling All In, and a general overview for big tournaments like this.
Also do you know any other videos/good materials for studying and playing MTTs
Thanks for the kind words!
I think akira did something like that here, a theoretical approach to the different stages.
I don't know if you have elite or essential membership on here, but there are loads of mtt videos in both sections so you can see if you can find a coach you like :)
Another awesome vid in this series Esben, been watching this twice to make sure I didnt miss anything. Cant wait to the next part - when do u expect it to arrive? And can u tell us a bit if there will be another guest commentary?
Its really great, and Phil Galfond is obviously one of the greater minds in poker, so really nice to hear what he has to say.
I decided to have guests for the rest of these parts (aiming for 9 parts in total so 3 left). People seem to enjoy it and I def like to bring in a different mindset to my vids esp when making such a long series. I was also really stoked to have Phil join me, an absolute pleasure to talk poker with him. Class act and brilliant poker mind for sure, glad you enjoyed it as well :D The next part should be out 2 weeks from the day this one came out, so around December 3rd or a little bit after.
Hey man.congratulations on the scores and very thankful for such great vids.
one thought tho on the kj hand from the ftops main when guy raises u on AAQ flop on fd how about putting a raise in there cause of the fact that his raise doesn't make much sense (i know know it might be too expensive) but his range he is repping seems so capped that when making this move might worth it ..putting something like 465k that makes our range capped than his and won't let him very much options...cause i feel he is more on the bluff side than the value raise there.might be wrong but curios at least if u gaved it at thought to this option.
tyvm and keep up the good work!
The only slight problem with that is that I never do that for value either. I probably always call my bluff catchers and strong value to let him keep bluffing ott, and I myself rep sooo narrow by doing it. ofc it might work just trying to be exploitable deep in a major though
Hi Espen, great video series so far. I'm surprised no one mentioned this hand, cause it was quite noticeable for me. 32 mins; FTOPS QJhh 52bbs effective stack, are you folding out this spot every time? Do you mix in a 3-bet vs bond25459? Flat? It just seems like you snap folded without consideration. Over 430 hand samples, villain is raising 14%!
34:08 SM Mom's Lies re-shove with 77, I feel like this is a spot where he should be folding out 77. You mentioned right in the beginning of the video, players will construct a tighter opening range and a tighter stack off range mainly because there are three players under 10bbs. Metis will be calling 100% of this range and I just don't think its a good spot to get 8bbs in. I like to be first in with a stack like 1.6mil, and secondly, we just posted small and big blind, we can play one orbit and see if any other players bust for a pay jump.
Lastly, always nice to hear what Phil has to say. he always has my devoted attention.
Thanks for your comment. I agree both spots are kinda close. in the QJs hand I feel like the guy on the button being so active and the blinds being pretty aggro deterred me from flatting, as it would set up good squeezing spots for the blinds and button flats here wide. I guess I could still 3bet and probably be committed to call off the blinds. That too gets a little ugly. It does kinda look like I snap folded which I agree seems a bit nitty, but the footage is also sped up a bit.
I agree, 77 seems slightly too weak to get in here.

Thanks for the kind words! Glad you are enjoying it!!
I really like the duo coaching format! Great for the learning experience if you get two viewpoints on the hands.
I agree, enjoyed doing these with a lot of great players

too nitty, meh. love ya phil tho <3
Hehe, def was some nitty folds in there, but I felt like the tournament considerations dictated that play a bit.
