Prefer other formats but there's nothing wrong with this per se.

Thought the video was still good/interesting enough to be worth a watch.

I really enjoyed this vid.
It's been a while since the last 6max live session vid, and I'd be happy to watch a new one of that. With that said I'm curious about the final part of WCOOP HU vs isildur1, and the other two hands of this event as well. So I'd prefer 3 videos. :D

i really liked it. please do the next 2 hands.
In the last hand, dont you think him betting AK/AQ is a bit thin on river? It blocks KK/QQ which are hands he beats and you may bluff catch with. I do not think you have that many suited aces such that 3b pre that could herocall either, but i could be wrong. Also the river Jx gives you some trips I suspect.
Your range i suspect, if he has AQ,
hands that beat him: 1 combo AA, 3 combo TT, 1 combo JTs, .5 combo of KQs (guessing), 2 combos of KJs, 1 combo of QJs=8.5 combos
Hands he beats: 6 combos QQ, 3 combos KK, 3 combos A5s, maybe 3 other combos of random suited aces that didnt cbet flop, 2 combos of ATs=17 combos
Though, you also raise AA on river, and ATs, so its only 15 combos of bluffcatchers that will think about calling the bet and paying him off.
Since he bet 1/2 pot, you need to defend 66% of time, and that means 16.83 of 25.5 combos you need to defend. So already, this is very thin vbet, and this doesnt factor in that you will raise some JTs/TT and all AA/ATs

FBB,

I like the analysis and I agree that AK/AQ are very thin bets. I think they're slightly less thin than you do likely because I expect IP to have more combos of suited aces. As a benchmark for suited A freq, Snowie has every combo of A2s-A5s in this spot preflop and also has some A9s.

With the deep stacks in play and the small open size I'm certainly 3betting more frequently than the snowie ranges, I think we can expect me to show up with enough weaker combos that AK/AQ is a reasonable bet.

I've always enjoyed these types of videos a lot. More in depth hand analysis. Would like to see more like this.

Cool vid! (personally would enjoy faster pace to get more hands in)

Hand 1: I think supesmall bets on the flop/turn make a lot of sense with range to get some protection. As played on the river, isnt 5900 kind of big? The allin guy will win most of the time vs your bluffs so you have very little incentive to bluf unless you make it very small so versus big bets UTG6 can just fold v often. I guess its hard to debate sizes withouth doing a quantitative analysis but on feel id go 2k or smth . Do you agree that your river sizing should go down the higher % of time UTG7 has the best hand?

More of a conceptual question: Do you have some trick to make sure you keep playing reasonable bluf/value frequencies esp with the mixed hands if you use a lot of different lines and sizings etc? Like in reality everything is mixed but in practice its easy to default to play the most natural line for a particual hand closer to 100% of the time and closer to 0% with the unnaturel hands, in which case if you use lots of different lines/sizings a skilled defender who understands the way you think can resort to trying to soulread/ count combos in every spot and crush. (This goes esp online wehre executing a complex strat is just totally impossible for me)

Hi Schulti,

(I wrote up a long post twice here and it got deleted both times, then I got frustrated and left it for a couple of days)

@H1- I think the river indifference will include a threshold where we can bet underpairs 55-99 if villain folds TT-QQ with a high or reasonably high frequency. It's quite likely UTG7 has AK/AQ, so in the cases UTG6 folds an overpair we win a lot of EV. I don't expect very many of my opponents to be thinking of denying this indifference when making their river calling decision with TT-QQ though.

As for your question about mixing, hm. The execution of complex strategies learned from advanced quantitative models is clearly going to be an area of growth for the pro poker community in the coming years. I think it's useful to begin by focusing on getting the pure strategies right. It's true of GTO that any mixed strategy has an equal EV over its options, so unless you're counterexploited you should be fine just clicking buttons in close spots. Attempt to mix up the close spots of course, but it's not necessary to achieve a ton of precision in most of them.

I've watched pretty much every sauce video multiple times (like 3-4 at least). Got to say I disliked the format in a lot of ways. I feel like the MTT team is strong enough on this site without him, and dont rly like live hand histories. It's kinda hard to follow as well, i had to rewind a bunch of times because i forgot the board, pot size stacks etc.

Personally I would prefer theory-themed videos or some liveplay 6max.

Fib0nacci 9 years, 5 months ago

I have to agree with sweet16. It's still a good video but i really enjoy much more 6-max or theory video (witch are just amazing).

Jamie Hallam 9 years, 5 months ago

Agree, this didn't do it for me either.

Would have far preferred the remains of the WCOOP HUNL match vs Isildur1 which Sauce said he was picking up next time at the end of part 2.

I like hearing about the live tourneys. I think it's interesting to see you apply your online skills to tourneys and using your theory skills. Maybe you just need some practice with this type of video. It seemed a little off for some reason.

Great video addressing common tournament situations. Please continue the thorough analysis and do not worry about time. Appreciate your fresh perspective.

You mention Snowie's preflop ranges quite often. Could you summarize the benefits of Snowie? Does it get lost in the weeds after its preflop ranges?

1st hand: Curious why you don't try and extract more chips pre-flop from the 3b? Especially after he calls PFR 5b all-in? It really feels like you left a lot of value on the table with not 6b to say 10.5-12k. I understand it narrows your range to 2 hands most likely, but do you really expect him to fold for another 4 or 5k? Do you anticipate losing value post flop if you do this? Seems unlikely considering you checked 2 streets. I'm confused to why you're giving off free cards to a player who has put in 6.4k?
