29:20 - QJs, why are you folding this getting better than 3:1? I see the squeeze has a 2.5% 3bet, but that probably includes AK in it as well. Are you thinking that maybe he doesn't squeeze AK 100%, so our equity is just going to be too close with a very low SPR?

31:36 - A4o
This is a scenario I have been a bit mixed on lately. We have a hand that has showdown, doesn't get called by worse, but also doesn't really get better to fold(unless we barrel)

What is the purpose of us betting? I imagine it's a combination of equity clean up, having equity ourselves against their calling range, and the ability to barrel some turns and get better hands to fold on later streets. This is a part of my range I would be really tempted to check back and bluff catch a turn bet with. Could you explain why it is the norm to cbet these holdings?

I suppose it has something to do as well with our overall strategy benefiting from "range betting". But this would also only be applicable against someone we were not playing in a vacuum against. Something like AK makes more sense to cbet with as we can actually get called by worst Ax. But maybe for a smaller sizing.

I also notice you use a half pot sizing. What are you trying to achieve?

When I'm approaching a situation, I tend to put my hands into two camps of getting called by worst or getting better hands to fold, and if I can't answer one of these two questions, I typically find it's not a great time to be placing bets. Something that stands out however, is there is "value" in getting equity to fold, which might be why we end up betting aggressively on the flop. Especially if they are going to under check raise, and overfold their equity, and also not stab alot on later streets. It would be unfortunate to check behind twice and let a hand like QTo realize it's full equity.

Thanks

QJs. I checked it in the solvers and they are folding aswell. Still if they would call I would still fold. It doenst play well against their ranges.

A4o:Yea true on the flop he is not going to fold a lot of better hands, but we let him fold a lot of equity+ we can barrel on later streets (let him fold better hands later )

1/3 or 1/2 both have their own benefits. If we do 1/2 we are making his continue range a bit stronger(but we have more Fold equity on the flop)

Dekkers one of your best videos I think, a lot of videos are the same in terms of post audio, live play, & PIO, but feel you played really solid. I agree with your exploit folds. The AQo btn vs bb in a 3bet pot facing a XR on A87r is hard to lay down vs small sizing, but I agree very under bluffed spot and folding flop is better than calling then folding turn.

Question #1 you use 3bb LJ & Hj then use 2.5bb from co and btn. Recently I tried this and someone told me it should be the opposite. They said with tighter range from LJ you want to entice calls from weaker hands thus use smaller sizing. Then use 3bb on btn because you have wider range and want to encourage folds. Argument for using larger size from EP is you want more value for tighter range. What are your thoughts on this?

Question #2 how are you determining your Bb defense? I saw you defend 97o vs HJ open which I would view as a fold. Snowie preflop advisor is suggesting similar broadway and KXs QXs hands to defend that HJ opens with. For example AT, QJ, & KJ are lowest broadways HJ opens, then K7s, Q9s, are lowest of the high suited hands. So snowie defends these folds others. This is based on 3bb open, so a tad tighter than 2.5x sizing. Hope that makes sense. Thoughts?

Video request: BB defense vs different sizes and vs different positions. Even if its just reviewing PIO charts, would be extremely helpful.

Thank you for an extremely helpful video.

hi runittwice i was just thinking the same and the whole question of opening raise, i dont use solver pio sim etc etc and and being a 48year old fuzzy headed degen whoses grown up with cardrunners and live poker, am struggling to work raise sizes ie 2.1 2.15 2.2 i was thinking 2.2 early to 2.5 bt and 3 x sb , i dunno am old lol
and does deeper stack sizes have any play in this ?
cheers

Thanks man!

Q1: You can use any size preflop, I dont think it matters much. The most important thing is, you are aware that BB his postflop range will be tigher(if we open 3x). So we have to adjust our post flop strategy.

Q2: I have some kind of a basic defend range, and then adjust based on their postflop play. If I have some reads I going to defend way wider (and dont play anything close to gto ranges anymore).

in 2-3 videos from now I will put that in the video:)
