Hi Steve, great video as usual - love these DB reviews.

Quick question but I'll probably have some more after I've re-watched it, when looking at how profitable the worst hands you're defending in the BB are; how wide do you make the selection? For example do you include suited aces, do you select a certain amount of suited kings such as K7s-K2s? This is something I would like to look at deeper in my game as my current winrate from the BB is just over -50bb/100 and feel this is my weakest position to play from.

Thanks.

It's a balancing act. You want to pick enough hands that you have a reasonable sample but not so many that you're picking really clear defends. You want to pick the worst hands you currently defend, so whether K4s is included or not depends on how wide you currently defend. For some people who defend pretty tight I would include it, for others who are defending wider I would say it's too strong to include.

Thanks a lot for analysing my game Steve! I really appreciate the time you took to make the video! I'm gonna re-watch the video later and take notes of everything you said.
Its kinda funny because Ive been working recetly with flopzilla and piosolver and some hands at the end of the video I think I dont play that passive anymnore, specially when I get to the river with Qhi lol!

Anyways thanks again Steve u are the best :)

Hey Steve. Thanks for the DB review. I really enjoy these and they're extremely helpful.

I've started to open up my BB defending range as you've suggested and it's going decently so far, but now my VPIP has shot up significantly (~31). I used to play 25/22 and now I'm playing 31/22. Should I be concerned about playing too wide and too passively preflop?

Steve Paul 8 years, 3 months ago

No I wouldn't worry about it, as long as the hands you're adding are doing better than folding. Keep a close eye on stats to make sure you don't start overdoing it but from my experience in these db reviews most low stakes regs would do well to play wider from the bb.

Great video Paul, finally I'm learning how to read the stats for a Review. I have a question about 3bet % of success. Is there a sort of correct number? You say SeniorX72 has to eliminate part of the bottom range due to about 39%. Could you help me with my my 3betting range from the button? I 3bet just 8.6% but my success is only 21%. At the moment I play NL10. Thank you.

Steve Paul 8 years ago

If you're succeeding only 21% that means your opponents are folding very rarely so you should 3bet very linearly and have few to no true bluffs. Obviously adjust vs your more reasonable opponents.

Thank you Steve. I think I have another leak I do not know how to fix. After about 36k hands, my cbet on the turn is higher than the cbet on the flop (60 vs 43). What spots I have to look for in order to find my mistakes?

Steve Paul 7 years, 11 months ago

That's not necessarily a leak. If you take a low flop cbet strategy it is likely you will follow through more often on the turn when you do bet the flop. I'd look at how often your cbets (flop and turn) are succeeding and then evaluate whether to adjust your current strategy

ilprincipedario 7 years, 11 months ago

Ok! At moment I cbet on the flop 43% with 50% of success, whereas I cbet 66% on the turn with only 34.4% of success. Probably I should cbet more on the flop and less on the turn. What would you advice? I tried to cbet on the flop NUTS, TPGK (J high Kicker or better) and draws like gutshot, flush draw and sometimes overcards.

Steve Paul 7 years, 11 months ago

Yes definitely cbet flop more. 50% success means your opponents are almost certainly folding too much. On the turn it's possible your cbet strategy is reasonable but you just get to the turn with too strong of a range and so are currently betting really often.
